Seafood & hot bread lead the menu at this American restaurant with a homey, rustic feel.

I was assigned salad duty for a dinner party and didn’t have to think twice — Deer Lake Inn was the obvious choice. I grabbed a large Caesar salad and, of course, the bread… which is honestly half the reason I stop in. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want when bringing something to share.
I still remember driving up and down Dixie Hwy during the remodel of the old Deer Lake Inn and watching the transformation happen — the silver exterior, the green grass-like siding, and the iconic deer head. When I heard it was becoming a Kroger & Muer restaurant, I couldn’t wait for it to open.
Since then, it’s become one of my favorite local spots for lunch, dinner, or drinks. The atmosphere is welcoming, the food is consistently excellent, and it truly feels like a place that belongs in the community. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or picking something up to take home, Deer Lake Inn never disappoints.

I was flying solo this weekend and wanted a nice dinner and experience! Kruse’s Deer Lake Inn did not disappoint. I chose from the Flavors of Fall on the menu (pick two) The stuffed shrimp was prepared perfectly (tender), and the baked shrimp and scallops were delicious. The pilaf pleasantly surprised me and was very good (pilaf is something I would have never ordered but it was the side for the pick two). I also had a Martha’s Vineyard salad add tomatoes (not pictured)! I look forward to stopping in again soon!

Deer Lake Inn is a place I’ve driven by hundreds of times and just never stopped in. That all changed today. I did a chatGPT search on fall things to do in the area and they popped up as an option because of their featured fall menu.
The feel of the restaurant is cozy and the fall food was such a good autumn representation because it wasn’t just the obvious apples and pumpkin flavorings.
I added the Martha’s Vineyard salad a la carte and chose the flounder and shrimp/scallop bake for the “select two” entrees.
I skipped dessert since I was headed to the cider mill. I’ll be sure to order it next time.

My husband and I came in today for a date night. My husband made the reservation. We were seated right away. Scott took our drink order. Everyone was super friendly and nice. Made us feel very welcome. My husband had the pumpkin patch pick me up cocktail. It was very creamy and delicious. I ordered the chicken fettuccine Casanova and my husband ordered the Maryland chicken. The food was amazing. Everything was so creamy and delicious. I ordered the crème brûlée. It was amazing as well. I’m not sure if the other person that was serving us was the owner or the bartender but he made our visit very memorable. He said he worked with his wife there but didn’t have a name tag and can’t recall if he said he’s name. He was very nice, we enjoyed talking to him. So thank you. Overall, we had an amazing time. We will be coming back.

The food was good. A bit on the salty side for my taste, but still good. I was there on Christmas Eve, it was massively packed. The way the parking lot was plowed limited the lot of four spaces. We had to wait for tables to leave before we could find parking. Not too long of a wait, but it was a bit of a Russian roulette feeling as others were circling the lot for the space. We had a wonderful server, he was very helpful on answering our questions on food and drinks. The atmosphere felt like they have almost too many tables for the space available, it has a rustic cabin atmosphere where we sat, minus a warm fireplace to finish the vibe. Overall, the experience was good, food good, the menu could be accommodating to different food needs and price ranges depending on what you order. They had a decent seafood menu, so this is great for seafood lovers. I hear they have good pizza and that can be ordered for takeout. This restaurant is good, but its not going on my favorite list. I don’t love the atmosphere and my food was just good.

First time visit and was very pleased with everything. Dan was a great waiter, after we let him know it was our first time here. We celebrated a birthday and had just a wonderful experience. The food was great, and the service was better, and we loved the location. We don’t get up this way very often, but when we do, we will be back. Thank you.

The food and service are phenomenal here! The starter bread is awesome! Perfectly baked and seasoned. They have great pizza( the crust is the best) and they make a mean fish and chips. Our server was very attentive and made sure our drinks didn’t go below half.

Our food was amazing. They bring out warm, fresh bread and butter to start out. The pizza was great. Hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Hubby had fish and chips, and he said it was very good. Our server was very attentive and gave us great service. Overall, a great place to go or get takeout for yummy food.

Absolutely fantastic first experience. Bob was attentive and helpful in making drink and dish recommendations. I ordered the seafood pan roast and thoroughly enjoyed it (still thinking about it, so good thing I have leftovers). Everything the others in my party ordered looked equally delicious. A return visit is a must. Thank you for such a flawless dining experience.

I like going to this restaurant with friends and family, I never have had a bad experience. There is a nice menu with a lot of good choices and I have had the majority of things with no complaints. The menu does get updated with other delicious specials so that’s always a nice surprise. The staff and survers have always been pleasant and friendly so that is a plus as well. I would probably put this restaurant as one of my top picks to go for a meal, check out the website and give it a shot.
