Best cheeseburger I have ever had and Joyce who makes these delicious burgers is top notch so very cool. I come here as much as I can for the antnosphere yuengling and cheeseburger and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you Krugs family. Xxxxxxxxxxxxx the photo I took of burger is after I dressed it up it did not come looking messy at all. Came perfect. And Joyce is working hard in the background as always. Staff are all great. There is free parking too which is fab. ❤️ there is no where else at all I would consider going ever. I’ll be a loyal customer for Eva.

Krug’s Tavern: A Legend for a Reason, but Bring Your Patience (and Extra Cash)
Krug’s Tavern serves up a truly excellent cheeseburger—charcoal-grilled patty, great bread, and incredibly juicy. However, a fair warning to anyone looking for a quick bite: these famous burgers take a long time to arrive. Be prepared to wait at least 20–30 minutes to get your hands on one. Fortunately, you can easily pass the time with a couple of beers at the bar while you wait.

The Food and Value: Since I arrived around 9:00 PM, I decided to go with a green house salad instead of the usual onion rings or fries to keep things a bit lighter for digestion.

One thing to note is that the burgers come with absolutely nothing on the side. While the burger itself is reasonably priced around $15–$17, most places typically include a side. Once you add your fries or onion rings, your “real” price tag hits well over $25, which definitely pushes it out of the “cheap burger” category.

The bartender was kind enough to offer me some pickles and pickled peppers on the side. I wasn’t particularly keen on the cucumber pickles—they had a somewhat strange smell to them—but I did finish the hot pickled peppers, which were a nice touch.

The Experience: On the bright side, there were no hidden fees, unexpected surcharges, or forced tips—something that has unfortunately become too common these days.

Overall: This is a classic, old-school tavern that is definitely worth a visit if you want to taste a piece of burger history. Just be aware that once you add a side and a few drinks, you’re looking at a $50 outing for a burger experience!

Really great place for a beer and a burger. Very friendly neighborhood bar. Absolutely worth a visit to the Ironbound from anywhere. Easy free parking lot with lots of spaces.
You know it’s a great find with lots of regulars at the bar and a flattop griddle and a deep fryer behind the bar. Added endorsement is when the local cops came in to collect their huge Oder to go. There is not a microwave in sight.
The burgers are HUGE- really- at least 1 1/2 inches thick and reaches the edges of a whole seasame seed bun! ! They are grilled to perfection. The “burger master” was very amenable when I asked for pastrami on my cheeseburger instead of Taylor ham. Trust me and just try it… every thing is cooked to order so it’s not fast food. Not everyone has the skill to cook a perfect burger on a flattop grill- this guy does. The fries and onion rings are pretty good. The calamari appetizer that we saw another guest get looked incredible as did the wings.
It is really loud. Lots of football games on lots of tvs and a jukebox, however really good music on the jukebox.

Typical dive bar with a really good burger. Went with some family and friends and we all got the same thing Bacon cheeseburger with steak fries and wings. The burger was huge and that didn’t take away from the flavor. The wings were solid. The service was so so, but it seemed as if there were only 2 people serving on a Saturday afternoon and they were doing the best they good. The parking situation is a little tough but they do have a free small parking lot. All in all definitely a must try if you love burgers.

2/4 burgers incorrectly cooked and fries were incredibly bland. Server could not be bothered to talk to us or check on us. Parking is a nightmare and we came out to find we were double blocked in.

Excellent food. This is a pretty cool dive bar with some of the biggest burgers you’ll find in NJ. All hand crafted marvels of meat (pause). Everything is made to order and you can taste the passion in each bite. Good service, very attentive staff, and they make you feel like a regular.
Definitely glad I tried this spot out today and can’t wait to return.

My husband and I LOVE Krugs Tavern. It has become our go to sports bar and favorite location for after work libations. Come as you are. This is a welcoming no-frills bar. We love it.

We have probably ordered everything from their menu and can’t complain about a single item. We recommend the employee sauce (secret sauce) on either their wings or shrimp. The underrated item on their menu is their pickle. It is seriously crunchy and delicious. Their burgers are delicious but very filling. My warning to large tables is that the kitchen cooks to order, so expect items to come out at different times.

Free Parking is in the rear (not side) of the building (turn on Napoleon Street).

Gosh. If you are considering, just get there. What an incredible place?! Proud to live in New Jersey and have the ability to frequent this location. Authentic family owned business with the BEST burger AND wings in NJ state, dare I say tri-state area as well. Their patrons are wonderful people and their Guinness pour is superb!
