I briefly stepped in to try for take out. My first time. I’ve been looking for a proper Indian restaurant not too far from Elgin and I believe I have found it! I went safe with Butter chicken, garlic naan and chicken Kritunga sankati. I have to know how a place does something I’m familiar with before going in deep. And it was the best version of Butter chicken I’ve had in a spell! Naan was adorned with lotsa garlic. And Sankati is probably better in house but also very tasty. This will be my new “go to” Indian place closest to Elgin. Looking forward to trying other dishes and happy to hear recommendations.

The food is decent. The ambience is good. We took a take away with bunch of items. The spice level is high. Their scale aligns with traditional Indian spice level. So, for people who are not accustomed to super spicy levels, beware and order 2 levels lower than what you think you are ordering. No item we ordered was awesome and no item we ordered was bad. So, it was average. All items were spicier than what we assumed it would be. What disappointed us was what we ordered for our kid. We clearly said “no chili”/ “zero chili”. They recommended something with a lot of confidence. Our kid could not have it because it WAS spicy. The weird thing is that when I called to provide the feedback the lady started arguing and telling that the item is not spicy. How could she know what’s spicy for my kid is what baffled me. Also when I sent a photo of the item to show how spicy it looked, she made weird comment that the photo shows a red item while usually the item is dark, indirectly hinting that I doctored the photo. When I ordered to make a video call, she backed out. In general they care for customers (I think). And in all fairness, they did offer to remake it if I was willing to travel (1hr) to get it.

I randomly stumbled upon this place, and it is my best discovery of 2025 yet. Everything I have tasted was great but I especially loved their butter chicken and lamb vindaloo. I took my friends and my toddler as well and they loved it too!!!

The food was amazing and the service was very friendly. My vegan girlfriend and I went in for dinner on a weeknight while in town. They had a large vegetarian and vegan menu for her to choose from, which was really nice. I had the garlic naan, paneer, mutton pepper fry, and butter chicken dishes. She ordered crispy corn and basmati rice. We had a great experience and we’ll be back again the next time we’re in the neighborhood.

Kritunga Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with its flavorful, authentic dishes and good service. The food is truly delicious—rich in spices, perfectly balanced, the vadas were a bit disappointing very hard as if being frozen but the rest was good. The chickoo shake is a must try.

Tried the ghee mutton, chilly chicken, and fry piece biryani. Everything was absolutely fantastic. The ghee mutton was rich flavorful, the chilly chicken had the perfect balance of spice, and the fry piece biryani was cooked to perfection with great aroma and taste. On top of the food, the service was excellent. The girl who served us was very friendly, polite, and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Definitely a place worth visiting again.

Greatly enjoyed my recent visit to Kritunga. This was my first visit and the space was previously occupied by Thumka. The prices at Kritunga were fair and the food tasted delicious. For each person it came out to $21 with tip. My party and I definitely enjoyed our meal, which included several different cuisines. The one criticism I will add is the upselling during the ordering process— but other than that I would come again!
