I love Krispy Kreme donuts – the core product is exceptional. However, the overall customer experience is consistently disappointing now.

The issues I see on almost every visit come down to two core problems: limited selection and staff who need significant customer service training.

However, I’m willing to give them a pass on selection most days, as you never know what kind of run they had before you got there. But the employees often seem cold and almost confused about why I’m even there, frequently just staring blankly.

Here is an example from my most recent visit: I asked about the current “Charlie Brown” holiday donut offerings, and the employee had no idea what was in it. I found this baffling. How can staff not know what they are selling? I ended up ordering a few, and they are supposed to have brownie batter filling, but NONE of the donuts we received had any filling at all.

What’s frustrating is the enormous, untapped potential in the Krispy Kreme brand. Unfortunately, many locations appear to be very poorly run. It feels like the company desperately needs a management overhaul. If this brand operated with the efficiency and customer service of a place like Chick-fil-A, it would be unstoppable!

Went in early one morning to grab a quick bite and a coffee. The place felt pretty relaxed, not too crowded, which I liked. The donuts were fresh and didn’t taste overly sweet, which is a plus for me. I tried a glazed and a chocolate one, both were soft and still warm. Coffee was decent, nothing fancy but it did the job. Staff was polite and moved the line along without rushing anyone. Prices felt reasonable for the quality and portion size. It’s the kind of donut shop you’d come back to when you want something simple and reliable, not overhyped. Overall a solid spot for a casual morning treat.

Apparently they stopped adding cream filling to their donuts. Only about a teaspoon in each one. Pretty consistent for this location. Go to Decatur if you can. Seems to be better.

The lady taking orders in the drive-through was extremely rude. She didn’t ask me what I wanted and then yelled, “what do you want“ through the intercom. And these are the donuts that she gave me. cold, hard, and not fresh AT ALL. She gave me these horrible donuts on purpose. 12/22, at 1PM.

I’m not gonna procrastinate about these doughnuts from Krispy Kreme in Huntsville Alabama. When my order came this is what I received. This doughnuts are so skinny and malnourished they look like they’re suffering from starvation. I’m so disappointed.

I pre-ordered my Valentines donuts five days in advance I walk in the door. They have absolutely nothing and then they tell me to pick 12 of those 12 cost less than what I paid for the Valentines donuts. I don’t have time to waste getting a refund I don’t want this place truly sucks every time I come they never have anything. I don’t know who’s doing the inventory counts, but they suck. I know the food is good but everything else about this place Sucks. They had to tell another customer in there with me. They didn’t have their mobile order they placed in advance. Krispy Kreme should just delete their mobile app if they can’t support the orders they take. I hope corporate sees this and change actually happens, but this is probably just a waste of my time as well.

This store is so poorly managed. I ordered a pick up and it was not ready at the time of pick up. I waited in line for 20 mins while the manager was working the drive thru (not assisting with the store front) and a line out of the door. When I asked for a refund because I could no longer wait, the manager literally said, “I don’t have time to deal with you” (trying to say that under her breath) and the person working the store front said she would have to take it to the back and it would take 2-3 business days to refund.

1. Check your projected sales from the previous year on Christmas Eve to see how much staff you need the day of.
2. Have pick up orders ready and sitting to the side before the time of the order pick up
3. Don’t give your customers attitude (all while you talked to some random person offering to fix the bathroom for free)
4. Plan your attitude and store procedures better.

It’s not hard to run a store front. I’ve been there and these are common things to do as a manager.

As for KK themselves, help your stores. Give them the tools to learn and understand what is expected. If you don’t have a procedure for online orders for pick up time, you are behind the game. This is not anything new happening in the world.

UPDATE – it’s January 5, 2026 and I still don’t have my refund…

I did an online order for the buy any dozen and get a original glazed dozen for $2 i went to pick it up and they were out of every single donut except the chocolate sprinkle donuts.
No one called me to tell me my order wasn’t fulfilled. And i drove the opposite direction for these donuts.

If your going to have “good deals” make sure you have donuts. I didn’t even get a single Original Glazed.
This is a donut shop…..
Also the floor had puddles of water everywhere.
If this wasn’t the only Krispy Kreme in my area I would never go here again.
I’ll be going again and seeing how it is and leave a review on my next experience. I hope its better.

On every occasion I place an online order, the specialty donuts are consistently unavailable, despite their website indicating they are in stock. This occurs even when I place my order early in the morning, which makes their unavailability quite perplexing (I should note that while I am not personally fond of their donuts, my partner is). My decision to write this review stems from my most recent experience. Upon arriving to collect my order, I was informed that “they’re making the donuts so I’m not sure when they’ll be ready.” When I inquired if there was any estimate as to when they began preparing the order, the response was “no.” After approximately ten minutes, the staff member approached me again and stated, “My manager says she doesn’t know when those donuts will be ready, that they haven’t even began making them, but you can come pick up your order tomorrow.” Pick them up tomorrow is crazy. I now understand the operational dynamics of this store, especially if this is the manager’s approach to management.

Remember the Krispy Kreme we all used to love years and years ago- well, its gone. What happened.. employees with no customer service skills or ethics are hired to run a business. On several occasions we have went only to be told, “we are out of donuts”. Save yourself the time and take a quick trip down the road to Shipley’s. .. they always have a variety of donuts and are happy to serve you.
