⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Krewe isn’t just good — it’s memorable.

Some restaurants are good. Krewe is the kind you plan your next visit to before you’ve even paid the bill.

From the moment the plates hit the table, you could tell this kitchen cares. The plating across every dish was dialed in — intentional, balanced, and beautiful without being fussy. Especially that key lime pie. More on that in a second.

The maque choux was a knockout. Creamy sweet corn layered with peppers and herbs, topped with perfectly grilled sausage medallions that had that smoky char that makes you stop mid-bite. The richness of the corn with the depth from the sausage was unreal. Comfort food, yes — but elevated, composed, and confidently executed.

Grandpa’s gumbo tasted like it came with a story. Deep, layered, and built with patience. The broth was rich but clean, not heavy or muddy. Every protein was cooked properly. It had that balance you only get when someone knows exactly what they’re doing. This wasn’t “inspired by” New Orleans — it felt rooted in it.

The French onion soup was good, but it was the one dish that didn’t quite hit the same level as the rest. The broth had solid flavor, but the cheese, while broiled, leaned more firm than gooey, and the bread was cut a bit too large to get a perfect spoonful. Still enjoyable — just not as seamless as the other dishes.

Now the key lime pie. This is where Krewe flexes. The plating alone was gorgeous — tall, clean slice, flaky crust, fresh whipped cream, lime zest, thoughtful detail on the plate. The crust being flaky instead of graham made it feel refined. The filling was silky, bright, and balanced — tart but not sharp, sweet but not heavy. It’s the kind of dessert that makes you rethink ordering “just a bite.”

Krewe feels intentional. It feels personal. It feels like a kitchen that respects tradition but isn’t stuck in it.

We’ll absolutely be back — and we’ll be bringing people with us.

On our bi-monthly visit to Costco St. Cloud we had lunch. The food was fabulous. I have to say this is now our favorite restaurant in the area. Our server was excellent. It is a must visit if you love New Orleans style food. MN Maque Choux tasted like a bowl full on warm hugs! Grandpa’s Gumbo was the best ever!

11/16/2025 Visit – had heard of this on a Facebook group and knew I had to check it out. Was REALLY glad we made the trip to visit, their food was amazing. I had the shrimp po boy which was excellent and full of shrimp, corn bread was just slightly sweet, boudin balls were really good. Hubs had the gumbo and said it was the best he’s had. Would love it to be closer, but then wouldn’t be special.

Absolutely the best gumbo you could possibly imagine!! It warmed my soul and brought me to my happiest of places…. And don’t even start with the Crab cakes!!!! Perfect crust, Remarkable flavor, and the sauces they give you, for all those “Condiment Queens” out there, will NOT disappoint.

Lunch: We ordered some muscles they had 3 different kinds ( partner says they were really good) we got boudin ball ( these were great came with a yummy dipping sauce). Red beans and rice was great flavored really well just a bit too salty. Shrimp etouffe was good, didn’t blow me away as I was excited to try it and the smothered collard greens were just ok for me ( partner loved it) was a bit vinegar forward for me., but if that’s your jam you’ll like it. Spent $160 for meal with 2 drinks bit expensive Would go back to try dinner items

Made a reservation and stopped in for lunch. This place was delicious, we ordered the oysters, must have, they were to die for! There was 4 different types and we tried one of each. The best appetizer was the fried green tomato, another must order if your looking for something tasty! We had a great meal, split a bunch of appetizers, had a few drinks and enjoyed a great time! Would not hesitate to recommend this joint.

Expanding our reach by visiting Krewe in St Joseph, a nice drive (1:20 hr) from Minneapolis. Krewe is a welcoming place for lunch or dinner. We had the shrimp jambalaya, crab cakes, and cornbread. All were very good – with the cornbread and its honey butter standing out. The jambalaya was filled with sausage, shrimp and vegetables – with a bit of New Orleans spice. The crab cakes were generous with tasty side sauces. Our cocktails were well crafted. Afterward, we shopped local bakeries and shops.

I visited this past saturday from out of town while I was visiting a friend. Loved the atmosphere and our bartender was wonderful. I had the smoked duck and it was easily the best restaurant meal I’ve had in a veryyy long time! It was a bit disappointing that my friend recieved her food about 10 min before me but it didnt ruin the experience. Next time I come to MN, I’ll definitely be back!!

This place deserves more than 4.6 stars. 5 star all around. Haven’t had jambalaya since being in New Orleans and this was better than what I had down there. Good home cooking and real recipes, good drinks, good beer. Brought my 12-year-old daughter and wasn’t sure if she would like the food they accommodated her with items that weren’t necessarily on the menu to prepare her steak and fries. I was about to lick the bowl after eating my jambalaya, and even my daughter liked it. Will be back again and again
