We arrived to find a very busy restaurant. Almost at full capacity, but we were quickly seated after about a two minute wait. Our waitress immediately came over and took our orders. After we got our food, our waitress checked on us frequently. Which was impressive with the amount of people there. The food is good, came out fresh and hot and delicious. We live about 50 miles away but we’ll be back for the great food and atmosphere.

Kretzer’s Grill and Bar is a surprisingly delicious spot in the middle-of-nowhere Hoyleton, IL. I’d never expect to find such delicious food so far from the suburbs.
I’ve dined here twice in the last four years- both visits in July. I think the food got even better upon my second visit- though I was quite pleased with the first.
My family drives 45 minutes one way for their all-you-can-eat crab. It’s a lot of smelly work, but it’s the best crab I’ve had in the Midwest. The portions apart from the all-you-can-eat crab are hugely generous, leaving you overfull and headed home with leftovers.
For both of my visits I had the popcorn shrimp, a salad from the well-stocked salad bar, a baked potato, and some cocktails. Alicia took good care of our group on a very busy Sunday afternoon. From what I hear, they are always busy because their food is just that good. It honestly feels like the whole town of Hoyleton is in the restaurant when we go.
The space is clean, there was next to no wait despite the full dining room. I’m sure we’ll be back.

Been wanting to go here for a while. Worth the wait. First round of crab was easily 2lbs. And they keep coming. The legs were of good size, warm and well seasoned. The salad bar was excellent as well. Lots of choices and the pulled pork chilli was really good. Service was quick and very friendly. Worth the 30 min drive.

First time here but it was recommended by family and friends with mixed reviews. There were several big tables full of people that were together being very loud very inconsiderate of the other people around them. When we finally order and got our food my whiskey glazed fried ribs were very good but my wife’s chicken livers were burnt on the outside but tender and done on the inside. We asked the waiter if the livers were always this dark and she said yes. We left them on the plate when we left. Some other the other meals like fish and chicken looked good. From what I could see the crab legs are just snow crab legs not king crab legs. There’s a difference. We might try it again but not on a weekend.

Husband and I have been wanting to go here for the all you can eat crab legs, so they had posted on their Facebook page for a Christmas special, so off we went and we were not disappointed, we visited on the Monday before Christmas the all you can eat was from 11-9 we arrived around 3 there was no wait and we were able to get a table right away, our waitress April was super nice, with the all you can eat you get 2 sides which 1 of those sides can be the salad bar so I chose that and a baked potato and my husband got onion rings and salad bar, the salad bar was fully stocked with lots of goodies but since I was planning on getting my fill of crablegs I had a very small side salad and that was it, so onto the crab legs all I can say is WOW, yes they were snow crab but it’s hard to find all you can eat any crab legs around anymore that are worth eating that does not cost you an arm and a leg and that are decent, these cracked perfectly was served with regular or garlic butter and April never let our try get empty, all we had to do was let her know when we were ready to tap out. It was a hour and a half drive for these delicious crab legs and I see another visit in my future. I highly recommend and definitely recommend following their Facebook page for specials.

I have been wanting to go to this place for years. Finally made it. It wasn’t king crab season but I definitely got my money’s worth. I think Jeanie was our server, she was a hoot. But now I see what all the buzz is about. Wow! They literally keep it “crackin” in there. The crab was hot and fresh everytime. The sides… Who needs sides when you have all you can eat. All of the servers are very attentive. I don’t ever do salad bars, but this one was actually really well taken care of. They had an attendant just for the salad bar. That young lady did not miss a beat she was on it. Overall great experience.

It’s worth a visit! I know what I’ll try when we go back lol it’s got the unlimited crab legs you get 5 bunches if you ask for more you don’t get to take any home. If you punk out like I did you can take home what’s left off the platter and you get one trip to the salad bar. $75 bucks for that.

Great all you eat crab legs. Wednesday night price is a great deal. I wish they would only bring out 3 legs at a time so the most ones don’t get cold or they had a lid to keep them warm. Other than that I recommend trying them out. They also have really good bloody Mary’s.

We were looking for a supper road trip and managed to stumble onto this place. All of us had the $21 Thursday Rib Eye special. The 16 ounce steak was great. It had good flavor and was tender. The salad bar was well stocked. Though we didn’t try them Kretzer’s is known for their crab legs. A lot of people were eating them.
I guess you could call the atmosphere rustic. There were a lot of deer heads hanging on the wall. The restaurant does have a bar attached. If you’re looking for a good meal or something different give this place a try.
