I just had to post about the incredible Neapolitan quarter sheet cake Kretchmar’s so beautifully decorated in French buttercream for my Mom’s 92nd birthday. From the moment I picked it up from their smiling counter person, I was so excited to present it to my Mom and family after dinner. I wish you could have seen how her face – everyone’s faces – lit up. Brighter than the candles! And the marbling inside was so perfect with the pink. The taste of both the icing and cake was beyond expectations. Thank you, Kretchmar’s Bakery, for sharing your gifts with my Mom and family. The cake truly added to the special day!

It’s my 18th birthday, I wanted an Elaine Benes cake. I was so excited when I was told they could make this cake. I got the cake today for my party tomorrow and this is the worse looking cake I’ve ever seen. It looks nothing like the inspiration photos I gave. This cake cost $45 and I can’t even tell who is on this cake. I don’t understand why the picture of Elaine could have been printed on this cake if they struggled with the design or why they told me they could do it. Thanks for making my 18 birthday memorable.

What a lovely place to stop in for a morning treat. The pastry selection was much larger than expected, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious—from the maple cinnamon roll and classic cinnamon roll to the peanut butter bar, raspberry danish, apple turnover, and cinnamon muffin. Highly recommend warming up the cinnamon roll for extra goodness! The staff was super friendly, and service was quick. Such a great local gem—definitely worth a visit

My family loved all of the items I took home to them: burnt almond torte, petite fours, cannoli, danish cupcakes (the definitive favorite), fruit pie/flips, and cinnamon rolls. It was later in the day and they still had a large selection to choose from. Workers were patient, helpful and very nice. Prices were reasonable. Take out.

On a cold and rainy Saturday morning, my teenage daughter and I went out looking for donuts and something to do. We purposefully avoided Dunkin and all the other known players and set out in search of a great donut. Time was no object.
Frankly, I thought I was going someplace else. As we crossed the river from 65, I thought we were taking the most round about route possible to my intended destination.
We wound through downtown Beaver and my daughter fell in love with the town. She’s seen it before, but today she saw it with new eyes and started fantasizing about moving there. She even looked up the local school district and told me how great their marching band is.
Details about Beaver are relevant to this review because Kretchmar’s Bakery fits into the idyllic town like one of them round pegs in a round hole. It’s a charming store in a delightful town.
We puller right into an on street parking street directly in front of the bakery. We were greeted immediately by a friendly clerk. And I was surprised at how low the bill was for the number of donuts we got (it felt as if it was less than what I would pay at Giant Eagle).
And the donuts were great! Way more filling than you get from the slop they sell at Dunkin’. And fresh as a mountain breeze!

Decided to make the trip out to visit this bakery after hearing so many good things about it and can say it deserves all the praise it gets. My favorite item that we got was a pecan pastry, I wish I’d taken a photo but I immediately demolished it on the drive home.
The sweet employee that helped us even gave my daughter a free cookie, which was a nice touch.

I stopped in on a whim, grabbed a single cookie, and it ended up being the kind of thing that shuts you up mid-bite. Everything about it: the texture, the warmth, the balance of sweetness. It felt like someone back there actually cares about what they’re making instead of just cranking out sugary filler.
The place itself is simple, clean, and run by people who know their craft. No pretentious nonsense, no trying-too-hard vibe. Just genuinely good baked goods made by people who understand flavor and execution.
If a single cookie can hit this hard, the rest of the menu is probably dangerous. I’ll be back, and I’m bringing a bigger appetite.

Best lady locks in the world! Never had anything I didn’t like. Amazing tasting cakes. Icing is so good not overly sweet! They make the cutest cookies. So many different designs especially during the holidays. They also have a coffee bar. Staff is always helpful and friendly never met a grouchy one yet. If you bring cash you even get a small discount.
