Ann Arbor’s oldest hamburger stand is about to start a brand new chapter. Following more than 70 years as a local rite of passage, we are happy to announce a new ownership team dedicated to preserving the unique character or our beloved burger joint. We will be doing some renovations and will be closing for a few weeks starting today, Tuesday March 17th. We’ll be sharing progress here, so stay tuned. We promise we’ll be back soon!
Established in 1953, this burger joint with a cafeteria-style setup also makes sandwiches.

I arrived at opening on a Sunday and asked for an egg on my burger. Runny. Over easy. Was told by the cook he only makes them fried. lol then I received the worst egg I’ve ever had on any burger in my life. So if you want a runny egg burger like I did go elsewhere. 3 guys in there working. None of them morning people apparently. It seemed like I annoyed them by showing up. I also wanted to try the chili and of course it wasn’t ready at opening. Seems like the burger would be fine if I didn’t get an egg on it or want an egg burger. Maybe just a bunch of mustard to help it as it was really really dry. The place is full of character though.

Pepper steak bullet is too good. Staff is amazingly helpful and kind. Literally the best burger I’ve tried in my life. The grilled onions and peppers are so good haha. Jacoby got me good on the grill back to back successes

Krazy Jim’s Blimpie burger-is indeed one of the craziest places I’ve ever been to purchase a hamburger. I was in the neighborhood as I was conducting some business at the University of Michigan. It’s pretty much a very small old house converted into an ordering counter and kitchen behind. When you come in, you are expected to have your order ready to spit out without any hesitation or you get cursed and screamed at by the person at the counter.
I had read that this was their modus operandi so I wasn’t shocked!
The burger was cooked on a flat top that was well loved. As I really wasn’t sure of the condiments they offered. I just told them to load it up.
My Burger came with a nice toasted bun-it had a freshly made burger, lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. It was very tasty.
Krazy Jim doesn’t do any advertising, but there were an abundance of college students waiting in line to order their burger. It feels to me like he is a legend of sorts as is the Blimpie Burger. I’m glad we arrived when we did as there was only a short line. Next time you’re in Ann Arbor, Michigan, check it out. You won’t regret it.

Krazy Jim’s is an Ann Arbor institution. Their burgers are the best in town hands down. It’s a build your own burger experience with a decent selection of options for everything from buns, grilled toppings, and your standard cold toppings/condiments. This gives a variety of options while still keeping the menu small, so each item offered is well prepared and built to your tastes. The fried sides are delicious! Go to Blimpy Burger if you’re looking for delicious food, not to shed pounds.

I’ve been to Krazy Jim’s a half dozen times. It’s and iconic greasy burger joint near The Big House. If you’re in Ann Arbor or on the U of M campus it’s a for sure destination. I would have given 5 stars across the board but it’s just not the same with out the older lady that used to run the kitchen. She gave it flare and made the atmosphere better. A couple of soy boy students said that they have phased out the yelling that she used to do. She was rough but she helped make the experience. But the service is still great and fast even when the line is out the door. Stop in and get at least a triple. You won’t regret it.

I’ve had better and I’ve had worse.
The fries were hot, but soggy and soft.
The onion rings had little to no batter on them and the other veggies were the same.
I’m sure people don’t eat here for the hospitality because they are sorely lacking in that department.
They’ve been in business for 50 some years, so they must be doing something right, but I’m not finding anything.
You better know what you want before your turn in line because the staff (cook) will belittle you and make fun of you.
Do you remember the ‘Soup Nazi’ from Seinfeld?
This is the Soup Nazi in female form.
You could say that she’s the Burger Nazi.
Know what you want and enter at your own peril.
The prices were a little high in regards to the food you receive.
I won’t be back and I don’t recommend this joint to anybody.
This is a swing and miss for me.

Krazy Jim’s is a well known burger joint, but it definitely has its own system. The burgers are highly customizable, and the staff is very active with customers in getting the details. I got a triple burger with American cheese on an onion bun with toppings and fries. It was all delicious, and because the burgers are only around 1/10 lb each, it wasn’t too heavy. Plus it was fun taking part in the ordering process. They have definitely earned their reputation.
