The food…. WORTH IT! Wonderful flavor and great selection. The experience as a foodie and lover of soju was a 10/10.
Two female staff members at the reception area were involved. One of them suddenly started yelling at me and my daughter for no valid reason. When I explained that the hostess had told us it was okay to check the ingredients, she continued yelling instead of listening. This behavior was aggressive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. There are many other places with far more polite and respectful staff than this one.
I went to KPOT for the first time on October 9th, having AYCE Korean BBQ at the lunch price. The ordering tablets threw me in a loop for a couple of minutes, but after a staff member explained how to use them, I was ready to go! I appreciate how there are portion and order limits to curb food waste and encourage customers to think about their stomach capacity before placing kitchen orders. I must admit—I got so full at the end that I almost couldn’t take it. Nevertheless, the lunch price was of great value and I enjoyed all the food!
I went for the 2nd time on Halloween with two friends of mine. We went to take advantage of the 20% off offer by dressing up, and during our visit we did Korean BBQ and Hot Pot. Like my first visit, I got realllllly full at the end. But it was just as enjoyable as my first visit. Main thing is that I wish the 20% discount had applied from the jump, because the three of us were all dressed up. Although when we brought it up, it didn’t take long for management to refund us the original price (because we had already paid). Afterwards, our price was revised with the applied discount and we repaid.
There are a lot of positives to KPOT. The meats and vegetables are flavorful and satisfying. The restaurant interior is really nice, especially with the eccentric blue lights. The mini buffet is a TRUE HIGHLIGHT—I love that there are small appetizers there! And I enjoyed creating my special sauce at the sauce bar.
The only reason I deducted a star from my rating is because not enough lighting hits the grill when cooking the BBQ. Both times I visited it was hard for me to gauge when the meat was actually fully cooked. I even tried using my phone light during my first visit, but that solution was unsustainable. I know that the fans are above the grills for a purpose, but there should still be overhead lighting or some sort of side lighting inside the grill to help people see what they’re cooking. I hope management fixes that within several months, because it would enhance the BBQ experience and make the restaurant a full 5 stars.
All that’s to say, if you’re reading this review and wondering when to go to KPOT, do so anyway. And go ASAP. It’s VERY tasty! Dinner is great, but I recommend going for lunch, because the value for that price is unbeatable! Affixed to my review are a few photos from my first visit to help convince you.
Recently, however, the service has taken a disappointing turn. On multiple visits, staff have been overly pushy about getting us to leave well before the stated time limit. This has included dropping the check on the table without us requesting it, repeatedly asking if we’re finished when we’re clearly still eating, and even telling us our time is up when our timer still shows 15-20 minutes remaining. This approach disrupts what would otherwise be a very pleasant meal.
The experience has also been inconsistent. On one occasion, a waitress was particularly rude and attempted to pressure us into paying well before our allotted time had ended. We understand the need to turn over tables for the next guests, but there are far more professional and courteous ways to manage this without making customers feel rushed and unwelcome.
It would help if the restaurant clarified exactly what the time limit includes—does it cover ordering and dining only, or does it also include paying and exiting? Additionally, there seems to be a mismatch between the timer staff are using and the one visible to customers, which creates unnecessary confusion.
This issue didn’t exist a few months ago, so perhaps it’s the result of new management policies. That would be unfortunate, as it detracts from what is otherwise a good dining experience.
Price can add up quickly. A meal for two adults with one boba tea each added up to about $120. Definitely worth it, but keep an eye on it so you don’t get any price shock.
