Great hole-in-the-wall spot for good sushi and hibachi. Cheap, quick, and massive portions. The fried rice had tons of vegetables in it and was well seasoned and prepared. The tuna in my sushi tasted fresh. My leftover fried rice will easily last me for two extra meals! Servers and chef are all very friendly. Support this local business!

We tried this place for the first time last night. The service was great, and we met the owner/manager Rudy, who was so kind and generous. He mentioned they’re looking for additional severs after I mentioned I’m a server at a different restaurant. The hibachi was delicious, the yumyum sauce was great, and the sushi was pretty standard. I liked the presentation as well. I really enjoyed this place as an option to eat at when driving through Van Alstyne.

Small town sushi… friendly staff, decent food, normal small town ambiance. Rolls aren’t going to win any awards, but they were good, hearty, and well priced. The Ngiri was fresh, sliced well, and the sushi rice was great. I liked the onion soup, and the Honey Moon appetizer came out after the sushi but was really good.

Basic sushi menu, but good flavors. Staff still finding their groove, but the place is worth coming back to.

Our food was delicious…. And the fact that we left with enough leftovers for both my husband and I… amazing (it heated up so well the next day for lunch!!) my husband is the sushi person in our house while I love hibachi, so Kozan is a win-win. The wait staff was sweet, and you could tell they are already getting to know some “regulars” (one of the many perks of small towns.) We will definitely be going again and have already told many of our friends and neighbors about it.

Absolutely wonderful! The best calamari and crab rangoon I’ve ever had. And all the hibachi entrees and fried California roll were wonderful. We were a little disappointed that there is no table-side cooking, but the quality of the food and service was worth it. We will absolutely be back!

Popped in for lunch. Was very busy. Second day open so it’s expected.

I say these things hoping the owners see it, because I genuinely want them to succeed.

The ambience was pretty bad. The only music was coming out of a small speaker behind the sushi chef. It was horrible 90’s club dance music. On the other side of the restaurant opposite of the sushi bar, it was so quiet you could hear other tables breathing. The tables were so incredibly close to each other.

You need to have 2 people making sushi. I watched two couples walk out because their food took so long. I was the third. Luckily I was able to get mine in a to go box, but I burned my lunch waiting.

Add some music, get 2 sushi chefs, and maybe a TV or two. Good taste and quality sushi. A little pricy for the quality.

Not traditional cook in front of you hibachi but the steak was pretty dang good. It was honestly better than I thought it was going to be. We had spicy tuna roll and Alaskan roll as well. Decent, not as good as the steak but still decent. Give it a try.

On their second day of business, they absolutely REFUSED to serve me the shrimp portion of my meal, which was clearly indicated on their lunch menu at the time. This single $1.25 food item has now cost them about $3,500-5,000 in business meetings and staff lunches for our company (so far). The owners evidently don’t care, as long as they saved $1.25 once upon a time. The food is good, but overpriced by approximately 30%. Dine here without my support or endorsement.
