Be aware that when you dine in, you cannot get free tap water from their drink fountain, you have to purchase a $4 bottle of water.
I loved that the fries were dropped to order. They are good fries too. Being able to add feta on top is a nice touch.
There isn’t much inside seating, and between the open kitchen and music it’s not ideal in terms of trying to having a conversation with someone, given the small space. The outside seating is very cute and I would recommend sitting out there.
I ordered a lamb gyro. It was good! Exactly what you would expect to get, and on par honestly with most gyros. I loved the ability to customize what you have inside which is the benefit of coming here (this chipotle but Greek). I wish the Taziki had more of a sour lemon taste in it. I also ordered a spinach pie and honestly that was not impressive at all. You could tell they used fresh spinach to make it but you couldn’t taste anything but that, no cheese or anything. I also didn’t like that it tasted as those it was sitting under a hot lamp for a long period of time. I’ve had much better elsewhere.
BTW we live in Austin TX and we’re looking forward to a treat. It was more of a trick. What a shame.
On top of that, the cashier had an unnecessary attitude, which really threw off the experience.
We get that everyone has off days, but in a place like downtown Royal Oak surrounded by great restaurants service and consistency matter.
Please don’t cut corners on portions or hospitality. Loyal customers notice.
Now the food: it was good before but the quality has really gone down. The lamb meat is good when cut fresh. But they don’t cut it fresh anymore. They cut and keep it warm in a bin. Then they pull from there. And the people working there are so cautious with the amount of meat they add. You can literally observe with all your senses how cheap they are when limiting the amount of meat. Don’t even get me started on the kids meals. You get like 3-4 tiny pieces. I always order an extra side of meat so my kids can actually get full. I’ve been going back despite all this but I actually won’t anymore. There are just too many things going in a bad direction, and keep going in a worse direction.
The staff seem clueless and completely distanced from their work.
This place is at a great location and used to have great food. Lots of improvement areas!
The staff is so friendly and welcoming. they make you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit. I love the cozy, casual vibe inside too; it’s the perfect place to grab a quick bite or sit and enjoy a meal with friends.
