Their service is so good, one server will come up and ask you if you’d like to order more food, and before the food comes (and it comes pretty quickly) another server will come up and ask if you need more food. Super on top of it, was very impressed. Not to mention the food is stellar. We decided to order from just the classic menu, and were not disapointed with this decision. The meat was really good quality, much higher meat / fat ratio from the typical Korean bbq place. Normally by the end of the meal I’m so stuffed that the last few bites are torture and don’t taste good, but here I enjoyed the very last mouthful. They even provide complimentary palm drink at the end of the meal which they said aids in digestion, which was a very thoughtful touch. And being how good all the servers were, we ended up having two different ones bring them out to us, so got an additional one for free. Also, if you haven’t tried rice wine (pictured), do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this. Wife doesn’t care for most alcohol but was a fan of this one. It’s ~$10 and the same size as a bottle of wine (750 ml) so very reasonable priced.

Really enjoyed our lunch here. We didn’t get the “all you can eat ” BBQ option. But instead chose the bento lunch. It was still alot of food and every dish was seriously delicious! Shout out to Carlos and Andy two of service people. Super friendly and attentive. Made the experience great.

The photo doesn’t do it justice, but this place was just an in-passing let’s go out to eat…best decision of the weekend probably. Was amazing. The servers take on a group mentality so everyone helps every table, and that was a breath of fresh air. Very kind and explanatory staff, great food…great experience!

Andy is amazing! Great service, awesome energy, and helped us decide what we wanted. Will come back to see him often and enjoy amazing food. We loved the brisket and all the sides. So fun!

We went on a Saturday and before ordering we asked the server if we were able to do the lunch meal even though it is a weekend and he told us yes. We only ordered off the lunch menu but when we got the bill it was charged as the regular. We asked to get it corrected and the server, while walking away, said we don’t do that today. We talked to another server and he went to get the manager. The manger came up asking why we wanted him, we didn’t ask for a manger once, explained everything to him and said the same thing not on weekends and they the guy who told us we could was not a server.
I explained everything from the beginning to him and he looked at me with dead eye. He didn’t even try to help or explain. All he did was grab a different menu than the one that we were ordering off of to show that there is a sticker that says Monday through Friday on the lunch. Our menu did not have that sticker. I would have gotten different options if I knew we would have to pay the regular price anyways. Very rude and didn’t care about making it right.

Saw this restaurant a couple of weeks ago on my way home from work. Decided to take my mom here since we were hungry and couldn’t really decide on what to eat, I’m so glad I did! Walked in and was greeted immediately and taken to a table and explained how the menu worked. Jake was our server and very polite and professional. He made sure our drinks were always full and when food was low asked us if we wanted more. It was a wonderful experience and cannot wait to go again! Thank you Jake and rest of Kotu family for making this dining experience worth it! See you guys again soon!!

Kotu Korean bbq has absolutely blown me away, this was the first time I came since it opened and I believe this is hands down the best Korean bbq joint in Tucson. Right when we walked in we were able to sit down, even though it seems a bit busy, place is honestly surprisingly clean and non-Smokey for a Korean bbq place. As soon as we sat our appetizers were ready for us, this place does not use butter to grease the grill, it’s real beef fat! It’s very refreshing to see that. Their appetizers were great, the salad is also very fresh. Their bulgogi is delicious, and their beef brisket and beef plate was fresh and salivating. They even had fresh calamari for us to grill, I haven’t seen that at other Korean bbq places, their shrimp is a bit hard to eat, the shell is hard and glued onto the meat. Chicken was also good, it was greatly marinated. Jap chae and kimchi fried rice was also very tasty. Just a side note, I believe this place is also owned by Koreans! Which just adds another layer of authenticity. Their kimchi stew(sundubu jjigae) is also delicious, only note I would have is that they’re not using silken tofu like it usually have, but that’s very minor. Definitely worth the money, servers were very friendly and when you leave, they gift you a plum carbonated drink to relieve some pressure after heavy eating!

The LA short rib was the star of the show. Other cuts were not as premium as other KBBQ. The thinly sliced pork belly was a bit tough. The bulgogi marinade was only spicy with no sweetness. The spicy chicken was tough, rubbery, and not marinated, just had sauce slapped on top. We did really love the cinnamon pineapple!! Good way to season up the grill with delicious sweetness, but a good KBBQ should not have to make me preseason the grill to make their meat good.
The sides are the most delicious part of the menu. Spicy and sweet popcorn chicken was amazing. The fried shrimp still had the skin on for some reason? But it was good. I think this place would be great if you like the variety of the sides, but I tend to steer away since the value is moreso in the meat.
The atmosphere is nice. I like that the grills exhaust to the sides so that the smoke doesnt blow in your face like other spots. Customer service is great and attentive. I think they noticed our disappointment with the meat quality and tried to encourage us to try more, but we had lost our appetites after a couple less than ideal bites.
Kotu is overall good, but other local KBBQs offer better quality for cheaper. Only thing this spot had over them was the selection! If you want a big variety and are okay with sacrificing some quality, I would try it.

Me and a friend have come here 14 times since July. Every single visit has been amazing. The servers are all incredibly nice and accommodating (shout-out to Andy) and the cuts of meat are really fantastic, the premium menu is strongly recommended for the ribeye and long bone short rib. Taegukgi in town doesn’t hold a candle to this place. Their sides are very good, but the real star is the fantastic cuts of meat offered.

Long overdue review, but for my wife and me, Kotu’s is not only the best Korean BBQ in Tucson—it’s our favorite restaurant here, period.
If I could give a place more than five stars, this would be it. I’ve lived in Korea and eaten at more Korean BBQ spots than I can count, and I would still rank Kotu’s above most of them. It’s truly that good.
Other reviews mention issues with staff being slow or not prompt, but that hasn’t been our experience at all. Even on the busiest weekend nights, every staff member was clearly doing their best to make everything run smoothly—and it showed.
A special shout out to Andy and the rest of the crew who do their best, and more, to make it an amazing establishment to eat at. We always look forward to our next visit.
