Noodles were good. The broth was good. The twin Katsu pork portion was generous. It was tasty. The onions were way overpowering and the music choice was terrible. Nobody wants to listen to Bad Bunny especially that loud I had to leave.

Clean and welcoming!!! ! Fred was just a wonderful host. I just got back from a 28 day Japan trip, I believe my review should have some merit. I visited 9 prefectures (Japanese states). Had all different types of Ramen.

I really enjoyed the kick, which was the chef’s favorite. I asked him to tone it down to half of the kick and I must say, it brought back memories of my trip! The meat and the broth were great, the ramen was just right…

I read a reviews about the owner speaking broken English and being rude! Might have been a bot or a near by ramen competitor!! Very sad and very low to shame someone that way.

I recommend this spot!!! And they have alcohol!!!!!! Wow

Came here on Christmas Eve and had some of the best ramen I’ve had in a long time. Service was quick and friendly. I highly recommended this place to anyone who wants a no BS bowl of delicious ramen at a reasonable price.

first time visiting Kotsu and we were not disappointed. It was a slow Saturday night, so not many customers on site. The food was tasty and exactly what I expected.
I ordered “extra” protein and the amount/portion size felt “limited”.

That means the regular order must come with a tiny slizet of meat. That was the only downside to our experience.

Great ambiance- could offer additional drink options for families (w kids)

I visited this place for the 1st time the person servicing and cooking was rude I did let him know I had never been here before nor have I ever tired the food I actually came here because My Boss suggested it as it was Lunch Time! Its 11:27am and im leaving without food for myself because the man was simply rude as I was explaining i was new to the place and food he rolled his eyes said you can try what you already ordered he asked if I like spicy I said No he said then I dont know because the one you ordered already is spicy I said thats not for me… He kept huffing and puffing because I didn’t know what to order I asked about his burgers and chicken burger he said ok well tell me what you want I said you know what forget it… I paid for my Bosses order but left feeling unwelcome and with a feeling of never stopping by here again… sad to say the man was also Hispanic as I am 2 but his English is Broken mine Clean as A Whistle discrimination because of my skin? Or because of lack of knowledge?

Great place and good food. Love the fact that soft openings allows you to fix the bugs in the system. First to go is the cashier… this dude obviously come from a different line of work, definitely not the service/restaurant.
Nice selection of dishes. Enjoy.

My wife and I checked out this new ramen spot on Lyons.
We ordered a few appetizers and their Kotsu Original Ramen which is a tonkotsu ramen. I was happy that their ramen noodles were Hakata style noodles similar to Shin-Sen-Gumi and not the yellow curly type like Daikokuya. The tonkotsu broth is on the mild, watery side and not your typical thick, salty, and fatty type. It could have used some extra garlic or soup base to make the broth stronger. We also like that they already include half of a soft yolk egg with the ramen bowl.
For the appetizers, the seaweed salad was good, the original chicken karaage was tasty, and their takoyaki was not bad. Although it could have used a bit more bonito flakes as only one takoyaki ball had it. Lol.
I would recommend providing small plates to the customers so they have a place to put their appetizers. Also, maybe subscribe to a music service for background music instead of playing it from the TV which requires someone to keep resetting the video when it finishes.
Need to come back to try their gyoza and rice dishes next time.

The vegan gyoza were absolutely delicious. I also liked the decor.

We live not too far and were excited to try this relatively new spot which is much closer to us than our other go to ramen place more on the north end of the Santa Clarita Valley. We were hesitant to go at all as closer to when they opened a few months back, my wife had called to see if they had gluten free options, and not only did it seem like they didn’t but the person who she spoke with was pretty rude and dismissive to her. But, months had gone by, we were driving right by at dinner time, and on a whim decided to go in.

It’s 6pm and the sign above the front door is lit up with the word “closed.” Despite the fact that people were walking in and out. Okay, they forget to turn off the “closed” sign. These things happen.

When we got in, there was no line and only one other party already dining. The staff person (there was only one in the front of the restaurant) pointed us to the order screens wanting us to figure out what we wanted using those instead of taking our order. Okay, fine…we do a lot of delivery orders so we know how to do it, but post-pandemic, coming into a restaurant, it’s nice to have a human touch. But again, not a dealbreaker.

My wife, who I mentioned is gluten free, ordered a rice bowl situation. She wanted ramen topping but on rice instead of noodles (since they don’t offer gluten free noodles, like many other ramen places in the Santa Clarita Valley do.) The lone staff person said they could not accommodate such a request. So she just ordered the rice bowl as is.

I ordered the vegan curry ramen.

Our son, who’s thirteen, and as all teens do, has opinions about what he will and won’t eat, wanted ramen, but without the broth…just the noodles and the toppings. (Yeah he’s ridiculous that way, but whatever, pick your battles with kids, right?) The screen ordering system couldn’t accommodate removing broth from the ramen, so we had to ask the one front of house employee if they could do that. His reaction was similar to, we would imagine, if we had just asked him to solve cold fusion. He made a point of telling us he didn’t know if that was possible and further that no-one had ever asked him that before. Good to know! I suggested he might be able to just communicate with the kitchen to simply not include the broth with this ramen. It took him a few minutes to accept this as a possibility, but he did it. Hurrah! We also ordered that one with extra noodles.

Our son’s came out first. It was a bowl with ramen toppings and a separate bowl with noodles. I mentioned to our crack Kotsu server, non-order taker, non “closed” sign turner offer that it looked like we didn’t get extra noodles, just the noodles on the side. He apologized and brought out the extra noodles.

During the half hour that went by between when our soon was brought his extra noodles, and anything else was brought to our table, 2 other parties came into the restaurant, ordered, were seated, and were brought our food.

Some restaurants have that thing where they bring out the food as it’s ready…tapas places do that a lot…but it felt like a half hour was too long for us to wait for food, while our son slurped down his many noodles.

This is when they brought out the vegan gyoza which, as I mentioned was delicious, and gave as a hope that we might actually be brought our food and we might enjoy it.

After we had finished the gyoza, now about 35 minutes after our son (and again 2 other tables who arrived and ordered after us had been brought their food) the lone employee, our emissary to the world of Kotsu, came with my vegan curry ramen and told us he was sorry, but the kitchen was out of rice and it would be another half hour before they had any more to be able to bring my wife’s meal.

We asked for (and were given) a refund for the meal and we left and made food at home.

We will never go back to Kotsu Ramen. They were mean to my wife. They were way understaffed. They got our order wrong. And they treated us like it was our fault for complaining about all of it.

Found this restaurant while we stopped in Valencia on our way back home during dinner time. My husband was craving ramen during our trip and this restaurant had good reviews. The ordering process is through a kiosk. There was 2 big groups when we came in and more people arrived to order. There was only one person on the counter who was doing all this job ( the server, front person for answering questions, addressing takeout customers, and bussing the tables & disinfecting. She was super busy yet very friendly & sweet. The dinners were taking so long and the poor girl was apologizing to the customers. There also was one person in the kitchen. The ramen was good but limited meat. It’s pricey, too. We were in a hurry to get back on the road and typically, ramen orders were fast. Hope the restaurant has more people during rush hours.
