Wow I’m shocked this place had such great reviews. The food was ok but everything was sooo dirty. From the tables to the checkout screen. Im all for simple restaurants but this was so shabby and genuinely dirty I was ashamed I brought the group of out of town speakers here. There was a nonfunctioning TV just playing a snowy screen and dateline that was very distracting.

We ordered salads and kosherie and a shwarma. The kosherie was very good and was the salad. The service was very quick and there was only 1 employee.

We had an amazing spread of food, all of it delicious. Lovely man took our orders and made the food. Will be craving this! Definitely recommend the chicken shawarma, hummus, pita, and kosharie!

We visited Kasharie’s in June. The food was so good. I was impressed that the owner personally served us. The customer service was great. The prices were very reasonable. The desserts looked heavenly even though we didn’t try them.

If you like Mediterranean food…and you haven’t been here, you’re missing out. There are three orders I can’t seem to stay away from.

The Egyptian Kosharie is amazing. Chick peas, pasta, tomato sauce, and fried onions on top of rice and brown lentils. I like mixing it all together. If you like savory spices, this is for you.

The beef shawarma is mouth watering. The pita falls apart, as the sauce soaks up the flavors of the thin luxurious strips of beef layered thick with spinach, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce. Think gyro, with a tomato sauce twist and thinner, more tender meat.

As out-of-this-world-fantastic as the previous two dishes are…my personal favorite is the chicken biryani plate. It is a very healthy portion of chicken, rice, vegetables, and sauce.

My wife is not as much of a fan of this style of food as I am….as she’s more of a hamburger, tacos, and pizza kind of gal. But if you like the spices, the Mediterranean, and the deliciously exotic. This is your spot. It is most definitely in my top five.

It’s a deli and restaurant. I had kosharie (the same menu name as the shop), and it was highlighted in the menu. It’s a vegetarian dish. It has noodles, pasta, beans and chick peas. I did not find the taste that great. Also, it would have been nice if seller were more cheerful, which is common in other shops.

Great food! Good portions, and very affordable. I highly recommend coming here! For sure buy that Baklava, it’s the best in this city!

Lovely, fast, personal service. The signature dish has a robust sauce helped by perfectly caramelized onions. I enjoy trying new foods and the large portion was perfectly sized to split with my son!

The Egyptian Kosharie is the best bang for your buck in town. Hearty, delicious, inexpensive. Love it.

It’s a cool hole in the wall kinda place I’m glad I found.

I was excited to find this Kosharie shop in Madison. The owner was friendly and the food was fast. I inhaled my meal of chicken shawarma and I took a kosharie and a baklava to go. Highly recommend if you are craving authentic Egyptian food.

The kosharie plate is delicious and has a *lot* of food, so will probably be good for leftovers. The falafel was decent but not my favorite, and didn’t hold up to transit as well as I had hoped — the steam must have de-crisped it. I really like how they sell both Middle Eastern food and stuff like chocolate chip pancakes. (Photo is of the partially eaten large kosharie plate, already mixed up — they serve it unmixed.)
