Family of 5 including a toddler came here for a Saturday dinner. The people here are some of the kindest people I have met at a restaurant. They really know how to value customers and other places can take lessons from them. They accommodated our request to change tables as the first table we were given was close to the wash area. We ordered eggplant fries, signature Koshari dish, Muhammara, cucumber mint dip, Falafel and Konafa for dessert. You should really like eggplant to be able to enjoy the fries because it’s a long thick piece of eggplant tossed in a batter and fried. The Koshari dish was also really tasty, something I have not had before – you can even mix with sauces they provide or other dips if it feels a bit dry. The muhammara felt authentic and the cucumber dip was a little extra sour for our palate. We were told that the Konafa takes time to make and we decided to wait and it was worth the wait. There was also live music which made the experience even more special – only feed back is that we felt the music was a bit loud for the size of the place but it was nice to enjoy food with an Egyptian music. The owner and the serving people interacted joyfully with the toddler and he reciprocated and they liked him so much that they gave him a snack bag as a treat Overall a very pleasant experience!

So amazing! The food is amazing and the atmosphere is so calm and friendly. Do not miss out on the falafel, they are the best I’ve ever had and the chocolate cherry cheesecake was amazing. Will be back very soon!!!

I’m sad to say not a great experience yesterday. Very cute place with nice people. However the foule did not really taste of much and the fattoush was plain. Served in takeout containers, but it seemed like an off day for them so no complaints there. My friend and I said if we had made this ourselves we would have been disappointed.

I don’t know what happened to my review from 3 years ago. This place is a rare gem. After returning from Cairo it was amazing to be able to have the beloved modern Egyptian phenomena of Koshari here in Boston. Been back many times and it’s always as good as the last.

Note portions are larger when dining onsite. Takeout and delivery are smaller portions.

Dreamy—a plant based delight for the senses!
This is my second trip and again I was a solo diner. I was treated to lovely falafel, balady bread, tahini, lentil soup, Egyptian tea, and bread pudding. Everything was fragrant and full of vibrancy like the wonderful restaurant and the warm and fun loving staff. I was lucky to meet the owner and literally dance my way out of the restaurant with a huge bag of food for tomorrow’s meals. Thank you Koshari Mama, truly an oasis of hospitality on a cold, dark and rainy evening!!! Note: all food is plant based, many gluten free options.

This place impressed me from the moment I walked in. The ambiance, the staff, the decor – everything about Koshari Mama blew me away. Of course, for my first visit I had to try the Koshari. As soon as I received the food I was pleasantly surprised at the ample portion size and beautiful presentation. The food tasted incredible and instantly flooded me with memories of my mother’s and grandmother’s cooking. I nearly couldn’t hold back tears eating this dish. My only complaint was that I would have liked more of the sauce, but this was very minor and I most certainly will be coming back for more.

Our Nikah celebration dinner at Koshari Mama was absolutely perfect, and we are so incredibly grateful! From our very first phone call and email exchange, the owners, Sahar and Dina, were an absolute joy to work with – so flexible, kind, and communicative, which completely put our minds at ease.

The Food
The food was a total hit, which was huge for our families from Okinawan, Bangladeshi, Algerian, and Egyptian cultures where meat, dairy, and seafood are traditional staples. Every single dish was delicious and felt so authentic! We especially loved the variety, from our appetizers like Fried Cauliflower and the “Meat” Layered Phyllo Tray to the generous platters of Moussaka, Roasted Tomato Garlic Eggplant, and Koshari. The “Chicken” & “Cheese” Sambusak Triangles, Potato Croquette, Quinoa Tabbouleh, Hummus, and Balady Salad were also favorites. A few of our guests were so impressed with the vegan protein dishes that they were convinced it was actually meat! The Chocolate & Nut Konafas were also delicious desserts to pair with Mint Tea & Coffees after the meal. The food being both vegan and halal-friendly made it a perfect choice for all of our blended families. We also really appreciated the generous amount of to-go containers, so everyone could take leftovers home.

The Service & Setup
Sahar, Dina, and their team went above and beyond to accommodate our group of 20. They set up two large, beautiful family-style tables in the center of the restaurant, and allowed us to use spare tables for the food platters and drinks. They were so gracious, allowing my mom to bring in her own small table decorations and for my mother-in-law to bring our wedding cake. The staff was prompt, attentive, and made sure all our needs were met throughout the evening.

Our entire experience at Koshari Mama was truly wonderful. Thank you for helping us make our Nikah celebration so memorable. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant & can’t wait to return!

What am amazing dinner experience! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with warmth. All staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. This was our first time eating at Koshari Mama and we will definitely be back. The food was delicious, and left us feeling full but energized (not the usual “weight” of your standard unhealthy restaurant food – this food made us feel good!). 10/10 would recommend. Thank you!

We went there hoping to get a taste of Egyptian food but food was so bland. The gentleman serving us was not welcoming at all. The main dish we went to try was the Koshari which is a mix of rice, lentil, chickpeas and pasta was served with the chickpeas not fully cooked, probably a canned chickpeas.
Overall not satisfied with the experience and I hope they can improve both their food and service.

A Truly Exceptional Mediterranean Gem

I visited this wonderful Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurant tonight for dinner, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve ha not just in Massachusetts, but across many states. This place is run by an exceptionally kind, humble, and professional family whose hospitality elevates the entire experience.

The food is simply outstanding. The koshari is hands down the best I’ve ever tried. The mezza platter selections and falafel are exceptional, bursting with fresh flavors and prepared with remarkable attention to detail. I also appreciated the thoughtful approach to the menu “less is more.” The selection isn’t overwhelming, but every dish is crafted with such quality and precision that it leaves a lasting impression.

A special praise goes to Mrs. Sahar, the owner, whose gracious presence makes every guest feel like they are dining at home. Menna and Destiny were wonderful hosts—warm, cheerful, and genuinely welcoming. And although I didn’t meet Chef Sawsan on this visit, the food speaks for her talent and dedication. Every dish reflects her passion and care, delivering a truly unbeatable culinary experience.

I visited with my little family this time, and we left feeling so happy and satisfied. I will absolutely be recommending this restaurant to all my friends, and I’m already looking forward to coming back often.

It’s also worth mentioning that the restaurant serves mainly vegetarian and vegan dishes—no meat, poultry, or chicken—but offers creative options with impossible meat, mushrooms, sauces, and other wholesome ingredients that make every plate exciting and delicious.

If you’re looking for exceptional food, heartfelt hospitality, and a place that feels special from the moment you walk in, this restaurant is a must-visit.
