Even though grocery prices in the U.S. have skyrocketed lately, eating out still feels reasonably priced — especially for us Norwegians. Koreana is a Japanese/Korean restaurant in Decorah offering both sushi and more traditional Asian dishes.
Sushi sounded best that day, so I went for a lunch combo with maki rolls: one with tempura shrimp and one with “crab meat” (which is really crabsticks, of course). The tempura shrimp maki was excellent — crisp, flavorful, and well balanced. The crabstick rolls were more average, perfectly fine but nothing memorable.
A small but important bonus: they serve Pepsi, which is surprisingly rare in U.S. restaurants — and the soda had no chlorine taste, which is even rarer.
Price before tip: $22, very fair for what you get.
Overall, a tasty, satisfying lunch and a solid choice in Decorah.

First, let me start by saying the service is AMAZING. Even during a busy lunch rush, we never felt ignored or like anything was taking too long. The crab rangoon and gyozas were excellent, and the chicken fried rice was incredible. We ordered two rolls and neither was particularly knock-your-socks-off, but it may just come down to personal taste. Overall, a pleasant experience.

We’ve been to Koreana a couple times now and I’ve already decided it’s my favorite restaurant. They have so many amazing options to choose from. My only request for my birthday today was to go to Koreana. Their sushi is extremely delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful.

The food was amazing! The staff was so kind and caring! We ordered the lunch special and my 2 year old daughter was eating with me, she was loving the soup, the staff had noticed and came back with an extra bowl of soup just for her. Will definitely be going back!

Service was very polite, helpful, and swiftly accommodated every request. It’s easy to tell they are experienced.
