Yes, there are more upscale options for Chinese food but Kong’s is my favorite. Food is consistent and tastes great so your favorite always tastes as good as you remember. Service is excellent and prices are on par with similar places around. Portions are huge and taste as good the second day. I always buy take out and its always a treat. I took off a star for atmoshere because there used to be an open kitchen and I loved to watch the cook make my meal. That’s screened in now. I really enjoyed watching that guy and learned a lot by watching him.

I ran in last minute as they were closing and was starving (I didn’t know they were closing, I’m not that rude, lol). I had ordered odd of the special menu they have in the window. She told me not to go anywhere cuz it’s be ready in about 5 minutes they just had to cook it. In the meantime the lady behind the counter and I talked about the plants in the dining area and how it had been a busy day. The phone rang a handful of times, while I was standing there, to place orders however they were closed so couldnt accept them. But never having eaten here nor heard of it, I took the phone ringing as a sign of good food. And it was delicious! I pretty much ate everything before I could make it home. It was fresh, not and you could tell it hadn’t just been sitting in a warmer. Definitely recommend eating here

Last month my partner and I wanted something quick for dinner and we decided on takeout. We ordered general tso, chicken and broccoli, dumplings and fried rice.

Just ok, nothing to rave about but figured I’d give them a shot while I continue the search for my new “go to” in this area after moving from far southern Maine. I can’t say I’ll be back, not that it was horrible, however it wasn’t overly good either. The general Tao’s was like eating candy, extremely sweet and not at all what you would think a general Taos dish would taste like, absolutely zero heat and the chicken was so coated in breading it was like cardboard. The fried rice was heavy on the soy and not much else, and the beef teriyaki was oddly overly sweet as well. The standouts (if you can say that) were the crab Rangoon and chicken fingers, both cooked very well and the rangoons actually had flavor. For the cost the portion and the quality was acceptable, nice service, the establishment looks a little rough but seemed clean. Solid C.

Did a take out order, asked for more duck sauce, said she gave me some, I said I knew I had just wanted more, then proceeded to tell me she put 3 in the bag and was rude so I just said okay a left. I would have definitely paid for extra but I guess I’ll gladly wait and go across the street next time

Not only was the food amazing, when I did go there years ago, and more recently about a year ago. When I first went there they were so nice to me, we talked they were just super people. Sadly I had taken antibiotics and not eaten, so long story short I got very sick there but not because of them. They did not kick me out they were very worried, very nice. As I said FOOD was amazing and not the problem. But I just keep thinking back to how kind they were to me. IF I go out that way to Wintrhop again I will stop there. The China Empress up the road sucks. But they have awesome food and kind service. Like I said I still can’t get over it.

We regularly get our dose of Chinese food from Kong’s Village in Winthrop. They are primarily focused on take-out, but do have minimal seating within the restaurant. However, as of now, during the corona pandemic, they only offer take out (the responsible thing to do in my opinion). The food is excellent, I especially enjoy their crab rangoon and orange chicken. The staff has always been nothing but courteous. Very impressed.
