I tried the pork cutlet lunch box at Kong Pocha, and it was fantastic! The cutlet was perfectly crispy and incredibly flavorful. The house-made tonkatsu sauce—something you can only get at Kong Pocha—was absolutely amazing and really set it apart. All of the side dishes were delicious as well, and I especially appreciated how friendly the staff were and how neatly everything was prepared. It genuinely made my day. This is the perfect spot for a satisfying and comforting lunch. Highly recommend!

Loved my experience here. Came early on Wednesday so beat the rush. The vibe is very authentic. Reminds me of my time in South Korea. The owner and her son/brother(I’m guessing) were hospitable. Drinks are good as well! Will come again.

Incredibly delicious corn dogs! My favorite would be the hot cheeto with cheese! An absolute must try! The service was excellent too! And the servers were very friendly! The only tiny advice I have is that it can get very loud at the patrons get drunk, so for people with noise sensitivity, just be prepared.

I had excellent service. Jackie was fantastic. Very attentive and kind. My good was super good. I do think it’s expensive for what it is, but it was very good. It was very clean inside. I sat down so I could take my time and relax.

Kong Dog Somerville should be shut down.

On 7/31/2025 I came in with a friend for lunch. I paid $10 for a sweet potato corn dog and $7.99 for dumplings in a dining room that was filthy — the floor hadn’t been swept, and the straws weren’t wrapped. Our waitress, an Asian woman in her 20s, barely served us. She just stared from across the room, which was creepy and unprofessional. I still left a $1.50 tip, which I thought was fair considering how little she actually did. As I was leaving, she told me, “Next time you should use the kiosk, it doesn’t require a tip.” That is one of the rudest things I’ve ever heard from someone in customer service.

We came back on 9/8/2025 because my friend wanted to try again. The same waitress greeted us with, “Are you sure you want a table?” which immediately set the tone. We spent $55 this time and got instant Neoguri noodles passed off as ramen for $16, with an overboiled egg and fake calamari. She forgot the egg in the first place and then acted annoyed when I asked about it. She also made a strange comment to my friend like, “I’m glad you’re in a better mood than last time,” which is out of line for any server to say. And, once again, she stood across the room watching us, whispering with the cook — who I can only assume is her father — while both of them kept throwing glances our way.

I tried to leave a $7 tip this time, and the waitress wouldn’t even accept it. The way she refused it felt like a slap in the face, basically saying, “keep your money, you clearly need it.” That kind of attitude is disgusting in any business, let alone one that’s already cutting corners and serving garbage food in a dirty space.

This wasn’t just bad service, it was hostile. The food is cheap, the atmosphere is gross, and the staff goes out of their way to make you feel unwelcome. It’s no surprise the place was dead. Kong Dog Somerville isn’t a restaurant, it’s a scam.

The corn dogs and the milk teas that we ordered were really good. However, we were told our food would take about 5-10 mins, and we didn’t get our food until after 20 minutes, and when we did, we didn’t receive the four sauces that we requested, and were charged for (ketchup, mustard, sweet chili [charged], and spicy mayo [charged]. Also, when entering the restaurant, you are greeted with an orange tarp, covering the sitting area of the restaurant, and there is an order machine past the barrel/desk. However, in order to put in your order, you have to go past the tarp, and when I went over to put in our order, I ended up hitting my arm twice, once when getting to the machine, and once getting back past again, back to the waiting area.

They don’t mention, though, that the corn dogs, sides, and drinks are the only things you can order to go. If you want to order from the full menu, you have to have a seat in their dining room (at least that’s what we concluded, since no one greeted us at the front of the tarp to explain the menu and ordering process when you have a seat in the main dining room vs the ordering machine). We only saw other menu items from photos on previous reviews for the restaurant, and not when we walked in.

Anyway, the food and drinks were good, but the experience wasn’t, really.

Extremely mediocre for the price, cocktails were 17$ a pop but very basic and more expensive than actual cocktail bars. Food was disappointing and nothing special, expect to pay around 30-40$ per person for basic fare. The melon cocktail in particular or rather ice cream cocktails were gross.

It’s late January 2024 and this place seems to be trending. By 6pm on a Friday, there was a long line to get in. Newly converted restaurant features the vibe of an old school Korean street bar, canopied by nostalgic orange tarps. Service was a bit disorganized as I think it’s a new position for most, but they were attentive and kind.

I tried a few adventurous menu items, such as fried corn, fried chicken gizzard, grilled beef tripes, and a Korean beer (Terra). Everything was delicious. The fry oil tasted clean, items were well seasoned, and fun to eat. Next time, I’d like to try one of their soups and rice cakes.

I appreciate the vibe the most. It’s a great place to decompress and catch up with your friends over food that goes well with cold drinks.

Honestly was so excited about this spot, yesterday was my first time back in a few months. My issue is not with the taste but the cleanliness.

A. We should no longer be handing out straws with no covers, straight up. Especially in a high traffic area where any patron can put their hands on all the straws. When I asked for another one, the server (without washing hands or gloves) picked up the straw with bare hands on the mouth piece and handed it back (I went across the street to get one smh)

B. Piece of hair basically cooked into the corn dog with another one laying just laying inside the box.

This was an almost $30 meal that got tossed.

Other than this, the flavor is so good but sanitation is top priority.

I placed an order through Uber Eats for pickup at your location at 2:00 p.m. on a Monday. When I arrived, the restaurant was completely empty. Because it was extremely cold outside and there were plenty of available tables, I chose to sit down and eat my order inside, assuming this would be acceptable as a paying customer.
The moment I sat down, an employee approached me and stated that customers who place orders through third-party apps are not allowed to eat inside and that there is a service fee required to sit at a table. I did not argue and was preparing to leave when the employee continued to over-explain the policy, despite the restaurant being empty and there clearly being no issue with space.
It is also important to note that there was no alternative way to place an order online other than through a third-party app, which makes this policy especially frustrating and unreasonable.
I would have completely understood this request if the restaurant were busy or if there were limited seating available. However, given the circumstances, the policy—and the way it was enforced—felt unnecessary and ridiculous.
Due to this experience, I will not be returning to your establishment.
