The food was absolutely amazing. The salmon was incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared, and the teriyaki chicken was full of flavour with just the right balance of sweetness and savoury taste. Both dishes were beautifully presented and clearly made with high-quality ingredients.
To top it off, the matcha latte was fantastic — smooth, rich, and the perfect complement to the meal.
Overall, Kome Eatery delivered great food and outstanding service. I would definitely recommend it and will happily return again.
I tried their grilled salmon mentaiko while my friend got their salmon saikyou ochazuke. The grilled salmon mentaiko set was flavorful and filling. The salmon has one of the best marinades I’ve tasted in any Japanese restaurant in Melbourne. The set also came with karaage and octopus which were also yummy. The karaage was crispy and well-seasoned.
My friend’s dish was very comforting and again, the salmon was well-seasoned. The dashi broth they used had a refreshing yuzu aftertaste which complemented the salmon well.
I also loved their cucumber pickles. I’m Indonesian, so I love sweet-acidic pickles and these pickles reminded me of cucumbers I usually eat back home.
Their matcha was also smooth and perfectly sweetened. I’m definitely coming back to Kome to try their other dishes.
We tried the wagyu & co teishoku and the beef was tender and full of flavour, paired with comforting sides that made it a well-balanced set. The chicken katsu curry was another highlight — crispy on the outside, juicy inside, with a rich, warming curry sauce. The spicy chicken sando had a nice kick and great texture, and the flaming salmon bowl featured torched salmon with a smoky finish that paired really well with the rice.
They also have cute merchandise and lucky charms available if you’re looking for something a little different to take home. A great option in Docklands when you’re in the mood for Japanese-inspired brunch.
The Flaming Salmon Bowl arrived pre torched, with caramelised edges on the aburi salmon and creamy sauces layered through the rice, delivering on flavour over the Salmon Teishoku alternative.
The Teishoku sets are worth ordering if nothing but the chicken karaage and octopus sides. Honestly both could stand alone as main dish heros.
The Chicken Katsu with Japanese Curry was good but I’ve had better, still worthy of a try though. And the Eel Katsu was something different and fun.
Nothing will blow you away but nothing will disappoint either. A reliable midweek go to office lunch that still feels special enough for when you want to impress others. It is just good food, good energy, and a kitchen that clearly cares about what leaves the pass.
We ordered the Flaming Salmon Bowl and the Chargrill Sticky Pork Belly — both were so good. The salmon was fresh with a nice smoky touch, and the pork belly was perfect caramelized char. Would definitely come back.

If you are after high-quality, seasonal ingredients, focusing on fresh, delicate flavours, go no further.
We tried both the spicy chicken sando and a salmon chazuke, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared. The katsu sando was crispy on the outside yet tender inside, paired with soft fluffy bread and a rich but not overpowering sauce — very satisfying and well balanced.
The salmon chazuke was equally enjoyable. Fresh salmon laid over warm rice, topped with flying fish roe, bonito flakes, and seaweed, served with pickles and hot tea on the side. Simple, comforting, and full of umami — the kind of meal that feels light yet fulfilling.
Portions were generous, presentation was clean, and the overall vibe of the café was calm and cozy — perfect for a relaxed lunch or catch-up meal.
Definitely a place I’d come back to when craving Japanese comfort food without the fuss.
Tried their salmon ochazuke, wagyu bowl and strawberry matcha and it was overall pretty good! Portion was decent but prices are slightly on the higher side so you would expect the portion to fill you up. I felt the salmon was slightly overcooked making it a bit tougher than usual. The price for the wagyu bowl is $42 which is pretty expensive and I felt like the portion and delivery could’ve been better for that price. The sauce was delicious and paired well with the meat and the rice, meat could’ve melted in the mouth a bit more. The egg was also overcooked. The matcha was great.
Service was good and atmosphere was clean and pretty for photos!
