We stopped at this bakery on our way from Houston to Lubbock, Texas. We always try to find unique and interesting bakeries. This one was no disappointment. Although it looks nondescript from the outside, and you might be concerned about the parking area, the interior is cute and welcoming. Tina helped us with our choices, assisting us in making good decisions. The owner of 40 years, Carol, was there to tell us a little bit about the history.

Their food is incredible. Kolaches with huge sausages in them. The fruit ones are really good and the cinnamon and coconut rolls are amazing. I have never been disappointed by their food.

There are countless articles boasting about the best places to eat kolaches in Texas, but if they fail to mention Kolache Kitchen in Temple, they haven’t seen anything yet. This little spot, run by Carol White—who learned the craft from her Czech grandmother—is an absolute Texas Czech treasure.
The moment you walk in, you’re transported to a simpler time, like when your grandpa would head to the local coffee shop to gossip with friends. It’s small, cozy, and wonderfully unmodernized. It doesn’t need to be—it’s authentic, just as it is.
My personal favorites are the strawberry cream cheese and apricot kolaches. In fact, I loved them so much that I served them at my wedding (because let’s be honest, when you’re Czech, a kolache tower is a must!). The cinnamon rolls are equally heavenly, with just the right balance of cinnamon, sugar, and softness.
If you’re in the mood for something savory, the sausage kolaches are a must-try. And don’t leave without grabbing a few dozen day-old kolaches to go—freeze them or eat on the way home. 🙂

After watching Day tripper, we had to try this place. A 40 + year history of making kolaches with their family Czech recipe makes this place a must try. I tried the jalapeño and cheese sausage link kolache and it was delicious! The quality and portion size were great, and the taste was fantastic. The combination of spicy jalapeños and creamy cheese was a perfect match. I also tried the blueberry fruit kolache and it was equally tasty. The blueberry filling was sweet and flavorful, and the pastry was light and flaky. I would definitely recommend trying these delicious kolaches!

The best fruit kolaches I’ve ever had. I like them better than all the offerings in West, TX.

Every time I’m in temp going to the VA hospital I stopped here to get six kolaches, they reheat so well they’re absolutely perfect every single time. The ladies that are helping out are always working as fast as I can because the store is always moving customers in and out

Fresh, made in house Kolaches. Klobásníks were a little different than what I’m used to. The breading is more of a flakey sweet type. They were out of the Jalapeno, so I’ll have to return
