Kokoro – Bravery Chef Hall

Kokoro sits inside Bravery Hall alongside several other concepts, and while the food absolutely delivers, the setting is something to note. This is not the spot if you’re expecting a traditional, upscale sushi-restaurant ambiance there are no private tables. It’s more of a bar-style sushi counter with limited seating, and the prices lean on the higher end for the portion.

I ordered the Chef Nigiri 6, and every piece had its own personality… also had
Kinoko– Surprisingly delicious. You can hardly tell it’s a mushroom because the texture is so meaty and the flavor is rich.
Butterfish (Managatsu) Silky smooth with a subtle hint of wasabi that balances the bite perfectly.
Kanpachi Sambi Crudo Bright, clean, and refreshing with a vinegary, ponzu-like sauce that ties everything together.

A note for anyone with allergies: If you’re allergic to red snapper or similar fish, be aware there may be cross-contamination. An allergic reaction occurred during the visit even after informing the sushi chef, so proceed with caution if you have strict dietary restrictions or fish allergies.

Overall, Kokoro is a great option if you want high-quality nigiri in a casual food hall setting, just make sure the environment and allergy considerations match what you’re looking for.

The Legend
Korkoro is located within a Chef’s hall. We went in looking for good sushi, and we definitely found it there! We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the chef’s professionally carry out their craft. The fish source is listed on the wall, so you know exactly what you are getting. The service was friendly and prompt. The yakitori was done to perfection, the sushi was yummy/fresh and the salad was spot on. We ordered a few rolls, sashimi, chicken wing yakitori, shiitake mushroom yakitori, shishito peppers and cucumber salad. The cool thing is that you can order from other locations within the chef hall and eat together, regardless of your choice. The vibe was modern, and chill. We got craft beers from the bar. I’d recommend this location for anyone looking for good sushi. We would return when back in Houston.

Amazing restaurant! Everything is super fresh and flavorful, from sushi to hand rolls. Service is excellent — friendly, attentive, and fast. Great atmosphere and fair prices for the quality you get. Excellent value for money — definitely one of the best Japanese spots in Houston!

Intimate & definitely a hidden gem of Houston. Our server Mia was kind, attentive and provided a lot of great recommendations, each and every one hitttt. The food itself was phenomenal!! We loved all of the nigiri, rolls & sides. The atmosphere was cozy, cute and inviting. I could not recommend this place enough!

delicious sushi. I tried the sake sashimi, kanpachi sashimi, loop de med sashimi, and the standout for me was the buttery chutoro sashimi — absolutely melt-in-your-mouth. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Definitely a spot I’ll come back to for top-quality sashimi!

The Houston restaurant week menu was awesome. I had the edamame, hamachi yoko, sake maki, and the nigiri dinner menu. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. However, service could’ve been better as the waiters had to be reminded to bring out the right dish or a course of the meal. Still great food and I would return!

The sea bream that is seasonally available right now is delicious as sashimi.

Food is so good and fresh. Sashimi is clean and the chef nigiri is so light, fresh and clean. Apparently the white fish are shipped directly from Japan. The gyoza is freshly made here and fried to perfection. The slaw that comes in on the gyoza is light with the right amount of acidity and light cucumber and cabbage with the fresh crispy veggie flavor. Royo and chef Eduardo and Onni were all very attentive and friendly! Great service! Will definitely come back again for excellent sushi!

We ordered $350 worth of sushi delivery and put “no cucumber” in the notes due to allergies. Note was ignored. Tried to contact restaurant for a week and it goes to the owner’s voicemail. Eventually went to the restaurant and had to pay $25 for parking to go inside and speak to them. Staff admitted to not reading order notes because they are too busy. Staff also said owner was not there and that they are not usually able to get in touch with him. No manager on location. I asked if they could refund or replace the meal and neither was an option, they suggested I email owner. I emailed owner and he was out of office for a few weeks. Someone else got back to me and said they would refund me and a few days later they emailed me to offer a $50 gift card instead of the original refund offer, which I never received. Disputed transaction with bank and Door Dash and was able to get it reversed. I do not recommend eating here because they don’t respect food allergies and it is a health hazard. Aside from this, staff on location was actually nice, they just don’t have an efficient business model or leadership.
