Travelers here. The restaurants we wanted to try were closed, and too long due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Decided to try this Korean restaurant. The owner and staff were welcoming and friendly to my family. There was only To-Go meals in the restaurant tonight (every dinner set was $20 – main dish, some little sides (fish cakes, nappa cabbage kimchi, cucumber kimchi), and small soup). We ordered Korean fried chicken wings, and Katsudon. Everything was really delicious and good value. Big portion!!! My 3-year-old son did enjoy the food a lot! I loved the fried chicken wings, especially when eating with both sauces came with the set. What a satisfied meal after a really long day and I was starving. / Highly recommend this place!

An amazing Korean treasure up in flagstaff!

Great friendly staff, great soju options, appetizers ( recommend the so dduck if you haven’t tried before!) and amazing dinner. Definitely make a reservation for dinner unless you get lucky like we did! Can’t wait to be back!

I think my experience was worse than it should have been, because my expectations were that of an open-grill style KBBQ.

I can’t imagine there are very many Korean restaurants in Flagstaff, but eating here after trying restaurants like Mana or Gen-Korean in Phoenix is a wholly different experience to say the least.

The dish I tried was more like a rice bowl and salad, rather than a bulgogi bowl. I expected more meat than what I recieved, and the portion size of each type of food in the bowl was equal to the next. The saving grace was the quantity, and it was filling nonetheless. The chicken katsu was very good in my opinion. It was cooked very well, not dry, and was also a good portion size.

I’m sure Kokiyo has other, maybe more savory dishes on their menu; and while I can’t necessarily chalk my experience up to “luck of the draw”, it was a unique experience, and I’m glad I was able to try it.

Simply the best place with the most flavorful food I’ve ever tasted. You definitely won’t regret coming here. It’s a wonderful spot with minimalist interior design that looks very aesthetic. The food is amazing and the staff is very friendly.

The food was unbelievable! We got the beef bulgogi bowls and mandu; immediately you could taste the love poured into their dishes. The staff and who I assume was the owner were so kind and attentive. We came up from Phoenix and this was our number one spot we wanted to try, it absolutely did not disappoint. We will be back everytime we visit!

Korea, you have my attention. OK, maybe it’s a bit much to suggest that Kokiyo represents a nation or culture. And to tell the truth, I don’t know much about Korean food. But our meal was delicious and has landed Korean cuisine on my radar. Plus 5 stars for service and atmosphere that felt just right for this quirky casual spot. The owner and staff feel committed to what this restaurant is about.

Has the owner and/or chef recently changed???

We visited Flagstaff on a family trip and had heard great things about this restaurant from people in San Diego, plus the Google reviews were positive, so we decided to try it.
Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. It was a busy dinner time, but we felt rushed and unwelcome. My husband came in just a couple of minutes after us because he was parking, and we immediately felt pressured to order quickly and leave. Several menu items we tried to order (about five in total) were unavailable, yet there was no apology—just a sense of hurry.
I ordered yukgaejang, and it was shocking. It lacked the signature chili oil and tasted like it was made with instant ramen seasoning. No. It WAS ramen seasoning. For a $20 soup, it was extremely disappointing—hardly any chicken and very few vegetables. It honestly tasted worse than a basic bowl of ramen, just without the noodles.
Overall, the food and service were both very disappointing. We won’t be coming back. As a fellow Korean, this experience was especially embarrassing and disheartening.

Update: It is always annoying that even though we order way too much food for their tiny two top tables they insist on crowding us at the small tables even though the restaurant is empty. They’ve done this three times but this is the first time they literally drug half of our table away. So, instead of our usual $120-$200 we spend, we protested our inconvenience and irrational, unnecessary treatment by not ordering bottles of sake or soju, not ordering 2 quarts of kimchi and dessert to go. By treating us this way and unnecessarily crowding us and embarrassing us, the restaurant easily lost $100 which means the server lost $25 and I just changed my review from five stars for everything to what you see now. And I probably won’t consider coming back to this place for six months to a year when normally I’m here every three months at least. They just lost two loyal, generous customers. They never filled the table they took away from us or any other tables and they foolishly made the two single people that came in sit elbow to elbow at their tiny four seat bar. The place was empty when we left except for the two individuals forced to dine together at the bar. This is terrible treatment of your customers. Don’t inconvenience the customers you have for the sake of the customers who might never walk through the door. This is just ignorant. —- Previous Review: This tiny place is phenomenal! Every time I visit I am impressed with the exceptional food. The preparation is flawless you must try their fried chicken, bulgogi, barbecue and their specialty drinks. I always buy extra kimchi to take home. I made an incredible Asian bloody Mary using the leftover Kimchi juice. It was amazing! Be sure to make reservations if possible, the place is very small.

We came to KoKiYo for a late lunch, and I’ve been wanting to try this spot for a while now. I’m so glad we finally did, it exceeded all of my expectations!
From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and welcoming, and the food? Absolutely spectacular.
I ordered the KoKiYo Lunch Box (a Bento-style meal), and everything on the plate was perfect. The beef and vegetables were cooked to perfection, full of flavor and texture. The kimchi was to die for, and I’m still thinking about the cucumber kimchi salad, such a refreshing and flavorful side.
My husband had the Katzudon chicken, and he said it reminded him of home, which is high praise coming from him. When I asked him to rate his meal, he didn’t even hesitate: 10/10.
We finished off our meal with a coffee ice cream macaron sandwich, and it was the perfect sweet ending, light, flavorful, and so yummy.
No complaints whatsoever. Just a genuinely great experience from start to finish. I’m absolutely recommending this place to friends and family, and we’ll definitely be back!

I was delighted to discover excellent Korean food in the U.S.! My family loved it, and thank you for the water for my thirsty dog. We enjoyed spicy pork, soon tofu soup, and tteokbokki—everything was fresh and delicious! I highly recommend it for a flavorful experience!
