The salmon roll didn’t even look like salmon. It looked more like sweet potatoes stuffed into rice. The color and texture were completely off. I know what salmon sushi is supposed to look and taste like, and this wasn’t it.
The sake came out late, after I was already halfway through eating. The waitress forgot part of my order, which is why I even had a second plate to begin with.
When I brought up being charged extra for pieces I didn’t finish — especially after the order mix-up — the manager wouldn’t budge at all. No discount, no attempt to make it right, nothing.
Between the questionable food quality, slow drink service, forgotten items, and management nickel-and-diming customers at an all-you-can-eat restaurant, I won’t be back. There are way better sushi spots that actually care about service and quality.
My shrimp tempura roll was mainly lettuce with no avocado in sight. This was not the hibachi/sushi I ordered a week ago. I called and spoke to the manager, but I’m not sure that it registered too much to her. The tone of the conversation seemed to sway towards the idea that I was either a picky customer who wasn’t satisfied, or that I was over exaggerating the issues of the food. Despite having ordered the same exact meal less than a week ago.
That being said, no resolution was offered, and it was recommended that I next time order and specify that I’d prefer “less lettuce” as well as being told that people prefer different amounts of “sauce” (in regards to the watery chicken and veggies) rather than taking any accountability on behalf of the cook (who she mentioned to be new) for the order being jacked up.
Smh… Koi, fix it so no one else has to have this same experience.
The manager is also rude and unable to communicate. $5 is nothing, would give a tip more than that amount if the experience is good.
Price/Value: 5/5 The weekday lunch is $15, which would be about the price of one specialty sushi roll anywhere else. (Weekend lunch and any day for dinner are both $24.) This is an excellent deal, given everything we ordered.
Food: 4/5 The sushi was good, and above what I expected with all-you-can-eat. The hibachi was very good, and a generous portion. The presentation of every dish is excellent, and the food comes out quickly. A word of warning: you will be charged for food not eaten (I believe it’s 50 cents for each uneaten piece of sushi, not sure how much hibachi would be, since we ate it all and ordered even more!)
Service: 5/5 It’s been a while since I’ve received such kind and attentive service! Our drinks were constantly refilled, our orders were placed and delivered quickly, and they frequently cleared plates from the table as we kept ordering.
Overall: 4.5/5 Listen, you’re not getting M Sushi level quality, but you’re also paying less for an entire meal than a single roll at M. The food is a great value, the service is great, and the price is exceptional! I’ll definitely be back.
ramen itself is fine. little too much MSG, it coats your mouth and you feel it after drinking water. $5 for extra noodles is steep.
