Koi Sushi offers a satisfying all-you-can-eat experience, with an expansive menu full of delicious and well-executed dishes. The chefs demonstrate a high level of skill in preparing the sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese fare, ensuring each dish is fresh, flavorful, and meticulously crafted. The variety on the menu is impressive, allowing guests to explore a broad range of dishes, all prepared with care and precision.

However, the ambiance at Koi Sushi is simple and functional, with little to distinguish it beyond its practical design. The temperature in the winter months can also fall just below comfort level, which may leave some diners feeling less than fully at ease. The music played is Chinese in origin, which is an unexpected touch for a Japanese restaurant and might not align with the traditional atmosphere one might anticipate.

The service, while efficient, falls short in terms of warmth. The staff, while professional, often appear serious and somewhat disengaged, which affects the overall atmosphere. A more personable and welcoming approach would elevate the service and contribute to a more pleasant dining experience.

Despite these elements, the food at Koi Sushi remains the standout. It is clear that the kitchen prioritizes quality and consistency, making this an ideal choice for those seeking a diverse range of well-prepared dishes.

The food here was great, beautiful presentation and tasted amazing. But I am very sick after eating here. Throwing up, diarrhea, all the usual signs of food poisoning included. As lovely as the initial experience here was, I don’t think I’ll be coming back. It could be the restaurant, or it might just be my own stomach. I do hope no one else gets sick! 🙁

Don’t be fooled by the reviews, this place is excellent. I was a bit leery of the all you can eat deal, but it is legit. The food is excellent and the staff is nice. I would eat here every week if I lived in town. The wine left something to be desired but so what.

Pretty whatever, to be honest.
I went in with high hopes, but the food just wasn’t great. The batter on the shrimp tempura was insanely thick, and the shrimp hadn’t been deveined. The takoyaki seemed like it was cooked from frozen, and the sushi had extremely thin slices of fish and very vinegary rice.
Okay value for the price but I probably won’t be going back.

We recently visited this “eat all you can sushi” restaurant in East Haven for Valentine’s. We’ve been here before but recently came back post pandemic. As always we had a pleasant experience. This restaurant had a great selection of sushi options, from classic rolls to more adventurous choices like octopus and squid. We particularly enjoyed the salmon and tuna sushi and sashimi, which were fresh and delicious.

The restaurant was not too crowded during our visit, however it is noticeable that there were only a few staff. We had a longer wait as compared to our previous visits when the service was fast but no complaints here. The sushi makers took their time to prepare us a wonderful freshly made sushi. Also, the servers made sure our hot green tea cup is never empty! This is so very welcome on a cold night like the night we came.

The price was reasonable, but it did go up like everything else. It was $29.99 per person at the time of this writing.

The atmosphere was casual and relaxed, making it a great place to go with friends or family. They have special dining rooms you can reserve if you’re planning a private gathering.

Pro tip: don’t forget to ask for a matcha green tea ice cream or a red bean ice cream for dessert! They are a perfect end to your wonderful meal and they don’t charge extra for this. It’s included if you paid for eat all you can.

Overall, we recommend this “eat all you can sushi” restaurant to anyone looking for a fun and satisfying sushi experience. The variety and quality of the sushi make it a great value for the price, and the casual atmosphere is perfect for a laid-back evening out.

This is an all you can eat sushi restaurant. It’s a pretty small place. The sushi is decent, nothing to write home about but also nothing to complain about. I think the price for all you can eat is reasonable. However if you’re there for a long time and eat a lot (maybe especially near closing time) they seem to kind of stop paying attention a bit to what you actually ordered and just put on whatever’s left in the kitchen. Which wasn’t a big deal, it was still good.

I loved their sushi and there was no wait for a table and the food came out quick! Our waitress wasn’t very friendly but wasn’t rude either just kind of apathetic I guess would be the best way to put it. Overall I was satisfied and would go back! Sushi was very fresh as well!!

Plates weren’t clean. Sashimi menu listed as 2 PC pre order, only one came out, when I asked, the waitress said it was $2 per piece. Very strange. Did not enjoy the meal.

This is the place for sushi lovers. $25.95 all you can eat sushi, plus a full menu of other appetizers and entrees you can order that is cooked to order and served at your table very well plated. Service was great as well. Will return when I’m in East Haven!
