The staff is super friendly and we love coming in to see them and they’re always playing music that we enjoy. Even the bathrooms are well taken care of which is always something I look for at an establishment!
We recommend the Tonkutsu ramen! My 6 year old takes it with mild spice!
We went to Koi Ramen on West Mason.
We got there at 11 am. on the nose! We were ready to see what delicious food we were going to enjoy today.
There are so many different menus, so many choices. I wanted to try one in each category!
We started with the Gyoza appetizer. They were tender dumplings with a bit of crunchy and really delicious.
Next up was our entrees..
Pork Chashu Bowl — Chopped up well marinated pork on top of rice with seaweed and a bowl of miso.
Miso Ramen — Miso broth, pork belly, bean sprouts, bok choy, scallions, and marinated egg.
The food was served in a beautiful large bowl. Definitely got generous servings of food.
Dessert — Sesame balls with red bean paste. I’m pretty sure they were made to order because they were super crunchy, chewy, and heck of a hot! The absolute best way to enjoy these.
I also couldn’t leave without one of the Boba drinks. It’s one of my weaknesses other than Sesame balls. I chose the Milk Green Tea. It was the perfect way to end this yummy meal. It wasn’t overly sweet.
Bob was our server today. He was absolutely fantastic! He took the time to explain the foods we had questions about, helped us make delicious decisions, and he made sure we had everything we needed.
Nice place for good food in a comfortable setting to enjoy spending time with friends or family.
I’m definitely coming back because there are so many other dishes I want to try.
They have take out as well.

Let this be a lesson to not judge a book by its cover. Although when we pulled up it was pretty empty and the building looked a little off, we wanted to still give the place a shot and it absolutely did not disappoint.
The staff were so kind and generous giving us an amazing experience to start our day. The menu was clear and they had so many options! We decided to get sushi expecting smaller portions like other places do.
But man do they know how to make some sushi!! The ratio of fish to rice was perfect and all the rolls we got were amazing. They even put it all on a big boat!! Which might seem simple but it really made our whole day.
To put it into perspective we took home like 3 boxes of sushi cause of how big the portions were LOL
As for atmosphere it was gorgeous!! They played some popular OT’s from anime’s which me and my boyfriend had fun guessing, and it was decorated beautifully.
We will absolutely return to try the ramen, please give this place a try they deserve all the love. Thank you guys for an amazing time <3
I was with my partner who has a severe shrimp allergy – our server was knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients and easily directed us to which dishes would be safe to order for them. The restaurant is clean and well kept so we had little fear of cross contamination.
The ramen itself – magnificent! The noodles have a lovely chew, the marinated eggs are flavorful, soft-yolked and have a lovely aftertaste of the star anise used. I added the agedashi that was silky and creamy. I had the tonkatsu spicy, and my partner had the shoyu – both were as described and full of delicious toppings.
We also ordered the yakitori for my partner and the golden spider (fried softshell crab) for myself – both were prepared fresh and were delicious. The softshell was some of ht best I have had since I moved to Wisconsin!
The interior is youthful and bright with anime and chibi references in the decor without being cluttered and overdone. And their selection of sake is fun and I am looking forward to trying a new selection each time I go!
For those folks who don’t understand why someone would go out and buy ramen when you can get a packet for 50 cents – it’s the same thing as going to a nice steak house for a steak instead of the frozen, saline injected steak you might get at the dollar store. If you want your ramen to be cheap dry and contain a flavor packet, you’re missing out.
