Came here for lunch recently (Feb 2026), and I was very impressed with the food and quality. Koi Palace is a pretty renown and famous Chinese restaurant, and I was impressed by the food selection and the ambience.

This Koi Palace has been around a long time, at least since the late 90’s, and they have plenty of awards and publications to show for it. In terms of atmosphere, it feels more old school than the new/modern type of dimsum restuarants.

But ultimately, what matters most is the quality of the food- and it was good. The friend duck, the noodles and lobster, the dimsum and seafood was excellent. Usually a restaurants quality shines the most for dinner- but the lunch was surprisingly good and filling.

We went during a weekday lunch so it wasn’t as busy- but I’d imagine this place would be quite busy on the weekend, so plan ahead. Enjoy!

We were a group of nine. This restaurant is very accommodating for large groups. Great to order dishes and make use of the very large “lazy susan” in the middle of the table. We had more than a dozen dishes on the menu with a few vegan offerings. All dishes were hot, very tasty and pleasantly served and very appealing to the eye. Tea and water flowed evenly and the servers made sure to always refill the carafes. Our waitstaff were very friendly and always very helpful. It was very crowded but the facility space was open and I never felt crowded when eating our meal. Large parties were already gratuity included. Double check. It was quite noisy so conversations were a little impaired. But otherwise, a wonderful time was had by all.

We came on a Sunday morning with a group of five and waited about 30 minutes, which was not too bad for weekend dim sum. The food was just okay. Some dishes tasted soggy and a bit old, and the restaurant overall felt worn and not very clean. Service was okay, nothing special.

There is a big parking lot, but it still felt chaotic and hard to maneuver. There were also a lot of smokers outside, which was not pleasant while waiting. I got lucky and found a spot right away, but it looked tough for others.

Overall, an average experience. I have had better dim sum elsewhere.

Came to Cali from NYC, had try their Dim Sum, and I must say the Har Gow is unmatched, the shrimp filling is juicy and massive.

Also got the beef chow fun which had the proper wok hey.

We visited for the first time in about 3 years. Elements are the same, the bustling crowds, a great variety of dishes, the koi I’m the indoor pond, the chaotic reception area, the high noise level; but elements were different. The service was slow, about an hour for one of our dishes, the food was cold, and most important, it had lost refinement. The dumplings were all oversized, no care was taken with the XLB so they had all burst. The prices were also significantly higher than we remembered.

Pretty classic dim sum spot. It had all the good dim sum food and all the good dim sum service. We got to eat all our favorite dishes. The atmosphere was cool too, with a lot of decorations. Though it is a pretty busy place during peak time, other than that it is not that loud.

I visited Koi Palace in San Francisco for dim sum, and the food was absolutely delicious. Every dish we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and well made, especially the dim sum, which really stood out.
The restaurant does not take reservations, so we arrived early to get a number and waited for a table. I noticed that smaller groups were seated much faster than larger groups.
After tasting the food, I completely understood why this place is always so busy.
There is a large parking lot, but it gets very crowded on weekends, so be prepared.

The original Koi Palace is great! Good food and great service! Highly recommend coming right at opening to avoid the lines.

The honey walnut shrimp was very good! The breading was thin and the shrimps were juicy and not overcooked. The sauce had traces of acidity, i am guessing from lemon juice — very much needed and often neglected in many honey walnut shrimp dishes.

The baked cod was very good! This recent one was a tad overcooked. Thankfully because the cod had a high fat content, it was more forgiving, otherwise it would be totally dry inside. The marinade worked well, so was the dipping sauce.

The lobster noodles were spot on! The lobster was cooked perfectly, so were the noodles. The sauce for the noodles was not too much, the noodles were perfectly soft.

The beef cubes were excellent! The beef were cut a tad too big. The sauce worked, and was aromatic and semi sweet. The mushrooms and other veggies worked great to give the dish its vibrant color.

Found a shrimp with the intestine still intact. Some inconsistencies here and there. I have been here many times.

Still quite popular after 30 plus years, Koi Palace offers upscale and expensive Cantonese dim sum and seafood dining near Serramonte mall.

Dim sum is one of their claims to fame, but I found the wrappings too soft and they fell apart when picking up a dumpling with chopsticks. Perhaps they added too much water to the four mix. Picky.

The savory dishes were sweet, and the sweet items were too sweet.

The recessed lighting and darker atmosphere adds a little sophistication, compared to the bright white LED lighting you find in most Chinese restaurants. The central dining area has nice lighting and higher ceilings. The area off to the side has lower ceilings and makes the noise level very high. Everyone has to yell to be heard.

Many tables ordered their more expensive seafood items such as Lobster noodles, steamed crab, crab noodles, abalone noodles. Maybe that’s the ticket.

Service was good. Our waiter was quite friendly and accommodating. We weren’t bothered by the rude and pushy guys in the dark suits with the earpiece.

Koi Palace is a good place to go to if you want to splurge and or impress your family or friends with an expensive Chinese lunch or dinner. Just go on a weekday…if you want to be heard or even hear yourself talk.
