Koi was a very nice upscale restaurant, perfect place to bring adults to eat drink and chat. Business casual would be the setting. No sports wear. The food was delicious and they do have a dedicated vegan menu that has quite a few choices. We had the Spicy Tofu Roll, Avocado Crispy Rice, Steamed Edamame, Root Bowl. All were exceptional fresh and unique blend of flavors. I highly recommend if you want an upscale location to eat that can cater to vegan, plant based and others.

Maddie was our waitress, she was amazing, knew the menu, knew exactly what we wanted and guided us the right way, definitely will be going back!!
GREAT quality sushi hands down & if you don’t drink they have a really nice MockTail options,
the bar tender was also SUPER nice & made a kicking bloody Mary for my husband, he loves it spicy & she delivered.

So when I arrived, I arrived about 40 minutes late into my boyfriend‘s meal that he was having with his brother and his brother‘s wife because I was hanging out with my friends then Apparently, my boyfriend has already asked three times for a beer and he didn’t receive it so I brought it up and said hey my boyfriend hasn’t gotten his beer can we please get that? She said oh OK I already rung it in. Let me go. Do it again 10 minutes pass it still hasn’t come so we get the check and we check the expiration date on the first beer he had which was the only beer he had And it was 2024 mind you this is New Year’s of 2025 extremely upset!!!

This was our first time here, and it was amazing. Our server, Madi (Madison), was amazing. She recommended yummy drinks and confirmed our sushi choices (Gold Roll, Mt Fuji, and Emperess)!! Will be back whenever we come back into town!!

The food and atmosphere at KOI were top notch. We started with a Soporo and a Mojito with sparkling water. The mojito was horrible and we asked to get a glass of wine and were told they had a no drink refund policy. We didn’t ask for it to be refunded so it just seems this is a repeat issue for their restaurant. I would just say stick to beer, wine, or saki here. We then ordered the edamame, ginger salads, and corn & shishito pepper appetizers. The ginger salad’s dressing was phenomenal and pickled red onions really made it pop. I was disappointed in the corn & shishito peppers because it’s describe on the menu as similar to street corn and I thought it would be accompanied by shishitos but it’s really just shishitos with a corn garnish. For our entrees we did the ramen with chicken and sushi. The sushi was fresh and tasty. The ramen was out of the park. The creamy marinated egg, broth, charred chicken and pickled veggies were so dang good! If you go I highly suggest adding at least one broth dish to your order. The service was alright but not stellar – I think for the atmosphere and price point you expect 5 star service but the service was on par with other places we frequent here on the Grand Strand.

I had very high hopes for this place, but was extremely disappointed; especially based on other reviews and the blurb from the owner. This place is far from expertly crafted or innovative. The sushi is just copy/paste with no thought needed in creating it. Also, there was a piece of sushi that had plastic in it and another with a salmon bone. Additionally, the staff had an attitude while walking away after having to answer a question. Assuming it was nicer when the owner cared, but I’m thinking it’s going downhill now. I will say, the interior is nicely designed and decorated.

People don’t necessary think sushi when considering South Carolina. Koi exceeded our expectations! Amazingly yummy food served in beautiful and sizeable portions. Call to ask them about the happy hour and BOGO deals. Thanks for the excellent service, Isaac and Christina!

We had an amazing experience! The drinks were incredible, the service was attentive and friendly, and the food was outstanding. I have gluten and dairy allergies, and the kitchen staff went above and beyond to accommodate me by preparing safe, delicious sushi without sacrificing flavor or presentation. It’s rare to feel this confident and cared for when dining out, and they truly nailed it. Highly recommend for both the quality of the food and the exceptional service-we can’t wait to come back!
