Just left and it was so good I had to post a review immediately! We live 2 hours away on the South Shore where sushi is a distant dream so when we come into the city, we often crave it.
We started with Agadashi Tofu and steamed edamame then spicy tuna, spicy salmon and California maki which were fresh, delicious and very satisfying.
The big stars were the Hot Night roll and the Hot Tartare roll. Photos don’t do them justice and the taste was outstanding!
We lived in Vancouver for 20+ years where good sushi is practically on every corner before we moved back to NS in 2017. Kofuku is great sushi and we’ll definitely be back on our next trip to Halifax!

Kofuku is one of the absolute best restaurants in Halifax. We have celebrated many special occasions with a meal here. The staff are kind and attentive and always proud to share that everything is made from scratch.
We particularly love the dumplings, the Remon roll sushi, and the crispy spicy beef which my 10-year-old nephew described as ‘the best meal on planet earth’ (he’s got magnificent taste). I would also recommend the Thai spicy beef, which has lots of veggies with it, and the mango chicken – *chef’s kiss*
We have had many other things from the menu, and have never had a single dish that we didn’t love.
Any time we have visitors we love to take them to Kofuku for a meal – everyone is impressed.

As a vegetarian Indian couple, finding restaurants that truly understand vegetarian preferences and deliver on flavor is always a pleasant surprise—and Kofuku Japanese & Thai Restaurant exceeded our expectations on every level.
From the moment we walked in, the warm, attentive service made us feel genuinely welcome. The staff was patient, knowledgeable, and happy to guide us through the menu, especially considering we were trying Japanese cuisine for the very first time. That alone deserves appreciation—there was zero pressure, only enthusiasm and helpful recommendations.
Coming to the food: while we can’t claim to judge the authenticity of Japanese cuisine, what we can confidently say is that the taste, presentation, and quality were outstanding. The vegetarian options were not treated as an afterthought—each dish felt thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and bursting with balanced flavors. Every bite felt fresh, comforting, and exciting at the same time.
What truly impressed us was how well the flavors resonated with our Indian palate—subtle yet satisfying, light yet deeply flavorful. It’s rare to find a place where vegetarian dishes feel complete and indulgent without being overwhelming.

We go there all the time, and I’ve visited a lot of sushi places not only in in HRM or Canada, but around the world, and I can tell these rolls are one of the best ones I’ve ever tried so far. We always order the Fusion rolls tho.

Delicious!! The Pad Thai and Sushi is amazing here Everything came out yummy, hot and fresh. The Thai and Japanese food on the menu beautifully blend together. Service is extremely kind Will come back to try out more menu items!

I have eaten here a few times now, and the food is excellent every time. The Poke Bowl I had last time was maybe the best I had ever eaten, and everything tasted as fresh as you could imagine.
The atmosphere is always great, and the Japanese and Thai menus both have a lot of great options.
Definitely one of the best Japanese or Thai food spots in HRM.

This is currently my favourite place to eat! The food is amazing and the vibe is perfect, along with a friendly staff. We haven’t had to wait for a seat or very long for our food and it has been exceptional. If you like Sushi or Thai food than this is a must try spot and I’d imagine everything on their menu is super delicious, (although it’s hard not to order the same thing you had last time because you’ll have enjoyed it so much and be craving it), like the best tuna nigiri, the Kofuku signature roll and their tasty brown rice tea. Writing this review makes me want to go there right now and I just finished supper. The ginger beef is also wicked good, as is the sampler appetizer, (especially the beef cakes ). I’ll be back.

First time here, but definitely will be coming back. The spring rolls were amazing, large and crispy. Their Pad Thai was really good and they have big portion sizes. The poke bowl was very good as well.

1. If you called for reservation no one will pick up.
2. If you walk in they make you wait for one hour.
3. Food was looking very tempting but when I taste it I couldn’t distinguish between dessert and main course. Everything was too sweet.
I had everything with chilli oil still it tasted sweet.
4. I think they should hire people, service was very slow.
