The fish quality is outstanding—melt-in-your-mouth toro, beautifully balanced nigiri, and delicate preparations that highlight the natural flavor of the seafood rather than overpowering it. Watching the chefs work is part of the experience; their precision, attention to detail, and passion for the craft are impressive.
The atmosphere is intimate and refined, making the whole meal feel special without being pretentious. Service is attentive and knowledgeable, with great explanations of the different courses throughout the meal.
If you’re looking for a true omakase experience in Manhattan, Koete is a standout. An unforgettable meal and easily one of the most memorable sushi experiences in the city.
Our chef, Jason, was incredibly friendly and masterfully prepared and served each course with care. He made the experience feel fun and personal while still keeping it elevated. Everything from the service to the quality of the fish was top tier. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great experience.
This was a 90-minute, 16-course omakase for $118. Instead of rushing through the courses, the pacing was tailored to our dining speed. And honestly, that’s exactly how an omakase should be.
I’ve tried omakase spots at different price points over the past two years, and Koete Omakase is the BEST so far thanks to its interactive dining experience.
Chef Jason, who has over 30 years of omakase and tuna-cutting expertise, guided us through each course and explained the pairing concepts behind them. He’s also very humorous, and we had a great time chatting with him.
My favorites:
– Akami Tuna with daikon and chive
– Chutoro with black truffle
– Otoro with caviar and 24K gold leaf
– A5 Miyazaki Wagyu with torched leek and sea salt
My jaw dropped when I heard how luxurious the caviar and gold leaf were. Definitely on another level compared to what I’ve had before.
From what I learned, the King Salmon was the only fish not flown in from Japan. It was sourced from New Zealand, and it tasted incredibly sweet and fatty.
We were also “challenged” with the Botan Ebi paired with pickled wasabi, which made our mouth numb for about two seconds, but it really elevated the freshness of the shrimp.
At the end, Chef Jason kindly treated us to yuzu sake and yuzu cheesecake on the house. We were also told that lots of celebrities (football players, Broadway stars, movie actors) come in for his omakase!
The food and service were fantastic throughout. We loved every course, but some standouts were the yellowtail, three line fish, uni and A5 wagyu. The sake pairing with the meal was really nice as well. Would highly recommend checking out this spot!
From buttery O-Toro to silky uni and melt-in-your-mouth Miyazaki Wagyu, each dish was crafted with care and intention.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable omakase in the heart of NYC’s Theater District, Koete Omakase is absolutely worth it! ✨
