Tiny speck of a neighborhood haunt with 4 or 5 tables and a scant 6 stools at a sushi bar. Service is friendly, timely and professional. Fish is as fresh as the Ocean and whatever came into Ventura or Santa Barbara in today’s catch. Omakase for $60 pp and an amazing specials board with fresh eel, uni, sea bream, wahoo, scallops, amaebi, blue fin toro, and many others. Sake menu — and Japanese beers — complete the traditional experience.

It is not easy to find a traditional Japanese sushi bar in this area: Koba sushi is definitely your best option, if you’re looking for one! Toshi san offers no frills, interesting and fresh nigiri cuts with generous portions at the right price. Highly recommended, I will go again when I find myself in the area.

No American style rolls here. Most authentic sushi I’ve had in Ventura. Fresh fish. I especially enjoyed the blue crab handroll on the specials board. It’s a little small inside, so there’s a high possibility of having a wait.
