The menu is a pretty good size, lots of different options to choose from. We got mozzarella cheese sticks as an appetizer and those were pretty good. I liked the meat sauce that came with it. I ended up ordering the chicken tenders and fries for my meal. They were nice and warm but they were pretty flexible and tasted like they came from the freezer. I also ordered a small bowl of the chili, it was lacking just a little bit on the flavor but it wasn’t bad.
Overall the waitresses were friendly and the prices weren’t too bad. I thought it was cute how they had it decorated and I appreciated all the space that they had avaliable. I’m not sure if I’ll be back but I’m glad I got too try it out.
The waitress told us the owner told her if we didn’t go to the atm to pay tonight, she would have to and she couldn’t afford it. I recognize the power outage was out of their control, but the owner of this restaurant treating his employees like this makes me want to never eat here again.
Our first experience wasn’t the best either. It was a holiday buffet and the food ran out rather quickly. Many people dining didn’t get the advertised meal served that night and they did not get their pricey meal discounted.
2/24 Hadn’t been here for a while, I guess it has changed hands. I was surprised to see they offered mexican options.
I ordered shrimp fajitas (not offered on the menu, i.e., special order), and they came with refried beans and spanish rice.
While the shrimp fajitas were of passable flavor, they failed to remove the shell at the end of the shrimp, thus making me do it as I built the fajitas. Unfortunately, I lost that picture. They were a 7 out of 10.
The refried beans had been obviously heated up in the microwave and tasted vaguely of tin. No cotija or queso!
The spanish rice was mediocre.
I asked for any hot sauce from the kitchen ( hoping for homemade)and received a salsa verde of medium heat. I wonder if it was La Victoria brand.
Overall, the meal lacked authenticity. I dropped the rating 1 star because of this meal.
As I dined, I did notice several trays of food going out to tables. I think I would have been further ahead to have ordered the catfish fillets and fries, which I’ve always enjoyed.
The service, however, was exceptional.
3/20 Decided to give it another try. Had the catfish fillets and fries. They were just above average. Nothing I would go back for. Not the same restaurant it was. Pie advertised, was commercial, frozen pre made. Service was still very
Amazing breakfast! The Ribeye breakfast was awesome and the price was way more than fair!
I would drive 45 miles to come eat here!
In fact we did drive from East Peoria on our way to Burlington IA to be tourists for the day and happened upon this amazing little gem of a restaurant.
Coffee was excellent! Service was top notch!
We will definitely be back!
