Day two when we returned was well worth it. Everything tasted amazing! My filet and the mushroom soup was done right. The soup had explosions of Flavor and the steak melted like butter. Delicious! Will return for special occasions!
Note: They also do military discount which surprised us. The waitress asked because of the debit card affiliation and gave us a discount.
Well, we are happy we chose this place. Everything was fantastic, from the service to the food, it was perfect.
It’s a small place, but we felt like we had plenty of room at our table. But with it being smaller, I’d definitely recommend making reservations.
We started with drinks. Both drinks were delicious. We have the blackberry smash and a margarita. My fiancé doesn’t usually drink except for the occasional margarita. But she actually really enjoyed my cocktail as much as her margarita.
Next was our appetizer. We ordered the poutine. The portion size was nice and big. It was loaded with fries, beef, cheese curds, and gravy. Had to force ourselves to stop eating it so we could save room for our entrees, lol.
I decided to try the mushroom soup, since I love mushrooms. It was definitely worth it. My fiancé isn’t a huge mushroom fan, but she enjoyed it as well.
Now to the entrees…we had the duck carbonara and the ribeye (w/asparagus and mashed potatoes). Both of these were fantastic. The ribeye was huge. I’d guess it was around 26oz. It was cooked perfectly, flavorful, and tender. The asparagus was thick. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I’m not a huge mashed potatoes guy, but my fiancé is and she said the potatoes were really good, “I didn’t even need any gravy”.
My duck carbonara was equally delicious. The raw egg yolk added the perfect amount of creaminess to the pasta. The duck was perfectly cooked. I loved the crispy bits. It contrasted nicely with the creamy pasta.
We don’t typically order dessert but since it was our anniversary and because everything has been so damn good; oh, and the waitress told us “they say our bread pudding is life-changing”. So, I said let’s do it! I’m so glad I did. The bread pudding is easily one of the best desserts I’ve ever eaten. My fiancé told the waitress she doesn’t really like bread pudding, “it’s soggy bread. I’m not really a fan.” Well, she loved it as much as I did. We shared one order and devoured it!
All in all, this was the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary. We both love trying new foods/places. I would order every single one of these items again. Everything was perfect!!!
The staff is always so accommodating and always try to find room in their seating to get us in on late notice. I don’t think we have eaten at this restaurant without personally seeing the owner/executive chef Jarrod and his amazing wife Jess. Mix that with Lou and Olivia and it always feels like a date night with family to share it with.
As far as the food….the starters are so good! We always get the Fried Avocados and last weekend we tried the beet salad with goat cheese and it blew us away. Went perfectly with my Smoked Old Fashion.
Entrees are huge and my go to are the Meatloaf when they have it, the steak is amazing, always perfectly seasoned and cooked and the salmon never disappoints. To be honest I haven’t had an Entree I didn’t like.
Lastly, I would not leave without trying their bread pudding. It’s crazy good and I take leftovers home just so I can save room for it.
This is our go to spot for quality food and a downtown family vibe.
I can’t stress enough how wonderful the atmosphere is in this restaurant. Some of us drove over 50 miles to be there – and it was beyond worth it!
From the outside, the restaurant is very unassuming. But once you’re inside, it certainly wraps itself around you and makes you feel like you’re at home.
Kudos to the chef, all of the food was excellent but the poutine was out of this world! I have nothing but praise for knife and Stone – and highly recommended it for your next gathering or celebration! You won’t regret it!
To top off the experience, make sure to sit at the bar and let Lou work his magic. He crafts the best Old Fashioned I’ve ever had, and his martinis are dangerously good; you’ll definitely find yourself ordering another! Overall, this restaurant is a fantastic choice for a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend!
Overall it was still an excellent experience we’ll go back especially if they start a Sunday brunch again.
