Honestly, I didn’t go here sooner because there were several bad reviews. I certainly can’t speak to those, but I can tell you that our experience was great! Brenda, the server who helped us was informative, friendly, and helpful. I had the French dip and cheddar broccoli soup. It was all great! My friend had a side salad and the chicken cranberry croissant sandwich and she said it was wonderful. I will definitely try a dessert next time, they looked really good. This is much closer to me than Panera (which I still love) but it also had a bigger selection of pastry items and I think it’s great that they can make gift baskets. I will definitely be back!

What a wonderful last minute experience we had at Kneaders for lunch yesterday. Our group of seventeen from all over the Treasure Valley found out that our reservation had to be cancelled at a neighboring chain minutes before our reservation because their internet was down and the restaurant is so dependent upon electronic devices that they couldn’t admit us. Had our hearts set on Italian food. Someone suggested Kneaders Bakery and Café was within walking distance so I quickly walked over and talked to Gretchen, their retail and to go packaging manager. Can you take us? By that time it was almost 11:15 am. She said “of course, if you don’t mind sitting at a couple of tables.” While I was waiting for the rest to arrive, I saw the large box Meridian Food Bank truck pull up. Lots of day old still fresh bread and pastries were being rolled out on a large cart. Turns out the chain has an arrangement to supply local charities or organizations with product everyday. This is so Kneaders can claim the Harvest bread selection and other perfectly good items go to a cause rather than be tossed, insuring customers at the restaurant only get the freshest possible. Most of us had not been to this location, some had visited Eagle road before, which closed when the lease was to be renewed at a much higher rate.
I had the Turkey sandwich (pulled fresh turkey rather than the sliced found at most other chain sandwich shops) and my wife had the 1/2 shaved ham sandwich. Both were combo meals with a choice of a side salad or one of five soups.
Really like the concept, enough to get pastries and to go. Service was great, I like that they make gift baskets to order and will wrap the breads for a nominal fee ($2.50) to give to a friend. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you!
We needed a quick education on how to order, what to get and then got up to speed quickly.

I’ve been here twice and had 2 VERY different experiences. I ordered the same thing each time. Crack Chicken sandwich…. First time it was absolutely delicious, I’ve been wanting it again ever since. Plenty of chicken, avocado, bacon, tomato. It was warm, the bread was perfect with the crisp cheese in the outside but soft on the inside. Today at only 4pm they were out of chicken, out of soda and a number of other things. They offered me turkey on the sandwich instead. I figured it would not be the same but all other things considered it would still be a good sandwich so I said yes. The bread was dry and not yummy at all. Tasted like it just been sitting out and was stale. The turkey was cold inside and the sandwich is supposed to be a hot sandwich plus they did not put enough turkey on it to even cover the bread. There was one strip of bacon and one side only had a tiny tomato. There was hardly any sauce or Mayo whatever it is that’s supposed to be on it, that was on it last time that made it so good it was pretty much dry this time. I had to work so I couldn’t take it back and I didn’t have time to get anything else so I picked it apart and ate what I could out of it. If that had been my first experience I would absolutely never go back. I am iffy about if I will go back after today because a chain restaurant like that should be consistent. I asked if maybe their freight didn’t come in and that’s why they didn’t have anything in the kitchen, but she said it was just because they were busy…. Which is crazy they aren’t prepared to be able to handle a busy Saturday?!

My wife and I have been here four times in the last 2 1/2 weeks. This is the best French toast in America, in my opinion. HOMEMADE fresh fluffy French toast and it’s UNLIMITED!!! All for $7.49!!! This place blows every other breakfast place out of the water. I am convinced that the bad reviews are from very snobby out of staters. I’m also from California, but I have been gone from that hell hole for 11.5 years and Assimilated to the Idaho culture.

I came by to get some cheesecake, but I guess $5+ doesn’t even get you a full slice. I should have checked it before I left I guess.

Plus, I tried to use a gift card and the employee told me it wasn’t working and asked if I had another form of payment. I didn’t want to throw away a perfectly good gift card with $26 dollars on it, so I insisted he try again. After a minute he figured out how to do it.

Plus, it was just kinda slow service. The food tastes really good though!

DESSERT DESTINATION. This is my kinda place, with a lovely vibe and a great selection of treats. It’s the Holiday Season, soooo lots of cozy pastries with everything pumpkin. We like to stop by for dessert, but will be back for more.

Room for a trailer. Sustain.

I have never been to a more slow Kneaders. Even the eagle road location never made me wait longer than 5-10 minutes for my food, and i went there often!! But this new location STRUGGLES!! The 3 times we have been to this new location have been SO SLOW! At first i gave them grace for being new. But that can’t be the excuse anymore. Last night we arrive and there is one group of 4 in front of us, and only one other family in the restaurant at their table. It took15 minutes of standing there for us to even get our order in. They need better management skills. The lady taking orders was also fulfilling online/door dash orders while another employee was walking around on her phone. Why the employee on her phone wasn’t gathering the door dash orders while the woman on registers took our order? I’ll never know. After finally placing our order it took 28 minutes to get our food! It cannot take almost 30 minutes to make a sandwich and pour a bowl of soup. 45 minutes from the time we entered the restaurant to when we finally got to eat. Not to mention the soda machine area was sticky and not many clean tables to choose from. The lady taking orders was very friendly and apologetic, which is why they got 3 stars. Eagle road location seemed to have run more smoothly. Not sure we will be coming here anymore. Food isn’t worth the wait.

Raspberry bread pudding, chocolate domes and fresh sliced bread that is cut fresh in front of you. Just try it, I love the different breads they have you can’t find anywhere else! I typically go outside the usual rush times, so I didn’t have to wait like some of the other reviews mentioned, and we were in and out in just a few minutes. Cinnamon rolls we’re brought out fresh right in front of us, and they were still warm for a nice early morning pick me up!

We fell in love with Kneaders when we lived in Utah, and have been watching and waiting for this location (Meridian) to open. That day has finally arrived!

Whether you are looking for their signature sourdough bread, a sweet treat from their amazing pastry counter (pastries, pies, cakes, brownies, cinnamon rolls, or even a caramel apple), or if you want a sandwich or salad you will not be disappointed. The food is light, fresh, and filling. And the treats are phenomenal.

I highly recommend a visit if you are looking for something for lunch or dinner that won’t sit in your stomach like a rock. And if you are in the mood for breakfast, DO NOT MISS their homemade french toast!

The environment is clean, the staff extremely polite and professional, and they will make you feel like family. It is clear that this is a family owned and operated establishment, and we were treated like family. I know that sounds korny, but everyone was so friendly and customer focused we felt right at home.

We were fortunate enough to be passing by and were welcomed in during the pre-opening VIP event, and learned some interesting history about Kneaders. Amy explained the importance of keeping ingredients fresh, and simple, and that being family owned and operated, that bringing families together is core to their operating model. She gave us a very informative tour including an explaination of how they make all of their bread in ovens imported from Italy, which reach temperatures of 600-1000° during the baking process to give their bread the perfect bake! All of their fresh baked bread is made from a short list of simple ingredients, with nothing more than flour, salt, water, and sourdough start. It was interesting to hear the explanation that because sourdough starts absorb the ambient yeast, that just like honey being influenced by the flowers they polinate, that the ambient yeast gives each location’s bread a unique flavor profile. We learned that they have kept their sourdough start alive and well for nearly a quarter of a century since purchasing a start that was already over 1,000 years old. We got to meet Justin, the “bread whisperer” who has been making Kneaders bread for over 19 years (as of 2025), and is working on their top-secret new pastry recipes. Even though the staff was “training” everything was clean, orderly, and running like a well oiled machine. Even though the restaraunt was full and staff was still “training” our order was quickly and accurately prepared. We will definitely be back!

Today was my first ever visit. I have 30 minutes for lunch. I figured if I downloaded the app I could order my food and pick it up for ultimate efficiency. I ordered my lunch, and headed over with a 20 minute round trip drive. I was not greeted when walking in the door and saw no signs or indication as to where to wait for something already ordered so I waited in line. A customer asks if I was in the line as she was perplexed where to line up as well. The staff member overheard that I was waiting for an online order and then told me I was waiting in the wrong area. It was not customer centric and made me feel as if I did not belong in this kneaders “club”. I did voice that I had no idea I was in the wrong place and information prior would have been helpful. Overall the food was great and the cashier taking orders was sweet and kind. I was able to observe her friendliness while waiting in the line. Care, appreciate and inform your customers. The feedback would be better.
