We love making Klondike Kate’s one of our stops when we’re in town visiting our daughter. The vibe is fun and friendly. Always seasonally festive. Lively bar area. Outdoor porch seating seasonally available. Menu is simple, and dishes are always fresh.

11/29/25 – had a great dinner of comfort food. New menu items: meatloaf BLT and Tortellini & Spinach soup. Both were delicious and hit the spot on a chilly night! The vibe is always festive this time of year. So fun!

This place has the perfect evening holiday hallmark movie vibe!

Beautiful decorations and a big menu with vegetarian options to choose from.

I’d the NEW spinach and tortellini soup, well made!

The vibe here is fantastic—lively, welcoming, and full of character. The food was incredible, and we’ll absolutely be coming back. The wings are hands-down some of the best I’ve ever had—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and satisfying. The nachos are just as impressive, piled high and loaded with delicious toppings. During busy hours, the place can get a little loud and energetic, but that’s part of its charm. Klondike Kate’s has a fun, spirited atmosphere with a touch of history that makes it stand out on Main Street. It’s casual, upbeat, and the kind of spot where you can relax, enjoy great comfort food, and soak in the lively surroundings. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth stopping in for a memorable meal and a good time.

My partner and I shared the nachos and our server, La’Brian, was outstanding. Our order was taken almost immediately after we were seated by the hostess, our drinks were refilled promptly, we were checked on frequently without being bothered and the service was very friendly. The food was great and we also loved the holiday decorations! Kate’s will always be a Newark go-to.

Had dinner here on a Saturday night during the summer with my husband and daughter. My husband had the chicken pesto sandwich. My daughter had a garden salad with grilled chicken, and I had the chicken & avocado caprese salad. The food was great. The service was prompt and friendly. We also had fried pickles as an appetizer. The restaurant was cute but the parking was terrible. Thankfully parking was free until August 10th so we didn’t have to pay for that horrible spot.

We were on our way down to Newark to go antiquing and decided to stop into Klondike Kate’s for a change of pace and try their brunch. We ordered their chicken and waffles and a Philly cheese steak skillet with two eggs. Both were very good and we would order them again. Only feedback would be that I thought the home fries should have been crispier and they were a bit over seasoned. I really enjoyed the St. Patrick’s day theme.

The experience I had at Klondike Kate’s Restaurant was not just disappointing; it felt like a blatant infringement on my First Amendment rights, as well as my freedom of press. As a music artist, I understand the importance of promoting my work, yet I was met with an atmosphere of hostility and intimidation. While trying to discuss my concerns with my manager, I felt pressured by both security and the staff not only to curtail my self-expression but also to erase the very documentation of my night that I sought to capture. I followed their rules and maintained calmness throughout, yet I was confronted and ultimately kicked out for simply trying to promote myself and the establishment in a way I believed was appropriate. This treatment is unacceptable, and it’s clear that there are deeper issues at play regarding how individuals are perceived based on their attire and background.

What struck me the most was the dismissive attitude of the security manager, who seemed more interested in perpetuating a narrative than genuinely addressing my concerns. The fact that he attempted to sidestep our conversation by referencing where he was from highlighted a significant disconnect; he failed to grasp the weight of my experiences and how they impacted my night. It was as if the very essence of who I am—an individual simply looking to enjoy myself and share my artistry—was disregarded. If this is how Klondike Kate’s truly operates, then I will not be silent. I have gathered enough evidence to pursue this further, and I intend to shine a light on the unjust treatment I faced. This is just the beginning; I will not let this experience define me, but rather fuel my resolve to fight for my rights and those of others who may face similar situations.

I have no complaints. Even though the UD kids were home for the holidays, it was still busy. The Eagles were playing also. The host got us a table right away. The food was excellent especially the Nightmare Before Christmas menu. Our server did a great job. And the pop up Christmas theme decor was super cute. It was a great experience.

Beautifully set up for Christmas. Great holiday menu. Cocktails were well made. I had an egg shell in my eggs Benedict, but other than that, the food was good. The sticky buns were delicious. Service was excellent minus the manager. We had a vodka substitution for one of the drinks that they did at the bar prior to being seated at a table. At the table the manager stated they weren’t able to make the substitution due to the bar being “slammed”. The resturant was full, but no more full than when we got there. In the end we were able to have the substitution, so why fight with a customer that was willing to pay extra?

Overall a good experience.

My wife and I enjoyed a great date night on a Friday evening. This being UofD territory, Klondike Kate’s can get really crowded during the school year, but this time we didn’t have to wait at all!

The hostess and waiting staff are friendly, attentive (though at times busy). I got a Crab Bisque soup (cream based). I’m pretty picky about crab bisque, and this one did not fail to please! It’s a nice big portion for a “cup”.

I ordered the fish tacos and my wife got beef fajitas with a salad. The food presentation is great (surprisingly for a college area joint) and the food was hot and tasty!

The waitress kept our drinks topped off, and was within eye sight the whole time.

We enjoyed the food, and got to enjoy a life musician on a guitar playing cool hits. The music volume was comfortable, so my wife and I could chat and enjoy our time together!

We commented on the vintage stained glass windows onside, and I recall hearing stories of the long history of this location. Loved it.
