Kites caused a real flutter amongst the social and foodie set when we first opened our doors some thirty years ago and we are still one of the best restaurants in Dublin for Chinese and Thai food. It can be truthfully said that Kites was the first restaurant to give real upmarket Chinese food at its very best. Set over two floors, the style of the restaurant is modern and minimalist, but plush, very comfortable and elegant. Our service is friendly, efficient and humorous. We are conveniently located in the heart of Dublin in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. We are a stone throw from the American Embassy, the RDS, the Aviva Stadium and the InterContinental Hotel to name but a few landmark locations.
Extensive menu of familiar Cantonese, Sichuan and Thai fare in a long-running local restaurant.

Reviews
The staff delivered a consistently high level of service, their professionalism, coordination and being informative created a warm and inviting atmosphere.
During my visit, I happened to chat with a lovely woman in the restroom who shared that she and her family have been coming to the restaurant for over 40 years, that kind of loyalty speaks volumes and as someone with an Asian background and having lived in Europe for over a decade, I can confidently say this place has set a standard that’s hard to surpass.
The team was friendly, precise, and exceptionally attentive. A solid 10/10 experience.
Price per person: …
I genuinely think the other reviews on here are from fake accounts or bots. I don’t believe anyone on earth could enjoy that food.
The restaurant is such that gangster have eaten there.
All kidding side, the food was delicious. I could tell the venue has its regulars.
My original review still stands:
Simple chicken chop suey with fried rice for 15.50, trays half empty, taste nothing special, overpriced compared to other similar takeaways charging around 10 for larger portions.
EDIT – Gave them a second chance after several years.
Result: another disappointment.
Food: very plain and salty. Some peppers and cabbage in the chop suey tasted not fresh.
Fried noodles: I ordered fried noodles, not bean sprouts with a bit of noodles. The ratio was basically 50/50, which makes no sense.
Service:
No napkins, no chopsticks, no cutlery, no receipt. Just two trays in a paper bag. For a place charging premium prices, this feels careless.
Price vs quality:
I paid 16.50 this time. For what I got, it’s simply a bad choice.
Final score: 1/10.
Not recommended.
