Our server, Ky, was truly amazing. Considering everything she had to manage that night, she was exceptional. She remained attentive, kind, and professional throughout and genuinely tried her best to make things right.
Taste-wise, the food was pretty good overall. I also ordered the fried green tomatoes. While what came out did not visually match the picture shown on the menu and wasn’t as beautiful presentation-wise, the dish did taste really good, so I’ll absolutely give credit for flavor.
Unfortunately, there were some disappointments that affected the overall experience. I ordered the seafood gumbo, and it arrived with no seafood at all. After sending it back once and receiving the same result again, I ultimately switched to the jerk chicken. Even on the second attempt, the gumbo only had a single crab leg sticking out—no shrimp, no crab claws, and nothing else mentioned in the menu description. That was especially frustrating given how hard our wonderful server worked to try to get it corrected.
Dessert didn’t quite land either. I ordered the peach cobbler, which should have been served warm so the ice cream on top could melt, but it wasn’t warm at all. At that point, I knew it just wasn’t my night—period.
What did make the night enjoyable was the live music. A saxophonist was performing who happens to be a really great friend of mine, and I had no idea he would be there. His performance was excellent and truly helped balance out some of the disappointments, making the evening more enjoyable.
Overall, I would still recommend this establishment and would be open to visiting again, hopefully with a better experience that aligns with the price point. Being a bit more mindful with my order next time may help, but consistency in execution is important.
All in all, it was a wonderful evening spent with my sister, and I’m glad we went out and tried this restaurant. I’ll give Kitchen & Cocktails another try, hoping for a smoother experience next time.
Friday was a Galentine’s dinner with my friends, and from the moment we sat down Kayla’s personality was amazing—funny, attentive, and she knew the menu like the back of her hand. She recommended the Pink Blush, a few of our appetizers, the KK Lemon Drop, and even gave us entrée advice, and NOTHING she recommended disappointed. That night I had gumbo, fried lobster, and beef short rib with mashed potatoes, broccoli, and carrots, and everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. She kept checking on us, laughing with us, and really made the night feel special instead of just another dinner out.
She was so amazing that I came back Saturday evening and specifically requested her again for my dinner with my husband. She remembered me, had the same great energy, and the service was just as perfect. That night I did the surf and turf with lobster and grilled lamb chops, and everything was just as good as the night before.
The food, the music, the vibe, and especially Kayla’s service made it worth coming back-to-back nights. She really made my whole weekend, and I’ll definitely be back to sit in her section every time—somebody send me Kayla’s schedule lol. If you go to Kitchen & Kocktails, ask for Kayla. You won’t be disappointed.
We were greeted by Mr. Brown, the General Manager, and had the pleasure of meeting Executive Chef Deavon — both absolute class acts who made us feel so valued. And the star of our day was our server, Nikki! Her vibrant personality and spot-on food recommendations made the experience so much fun!!!
The food was a 10/10 — the lamb chops were divine and the catfish absolutely goes hard! We haven’t had food that good in a long time, and it was worth every bite.
If you’re in the Philadelphia area, this is a must-try.
