“The breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. Our three-year-old son loved it here so much! We truly enjoyed our time and would highly recommend this place to families and anyone looking for a cozy, friendly spot.” ♥️

Excellent choices here at an unassuming main street eatery.. Welcoming staff (you order at the counter and it’s delivered to your table). Absolutely amazing Reuben — see the pic. And my wife had an excellent BLT.

Pleasant little restaurant. Good, reasonably priced food and friendly service. Wife had the veggie quiche with sweet potato crust and loved it. I had the thick cut French toast which was very good and served with real Maple syrup.

Great food, pet friendly and the staff was super nice! We arrived 20 minutes before closing and they took great care of us. We had the BLT times two, one with sweet potato fries the other with chips. We also had a cheeseburger and a #1 breakfast. Only had time to get pics of BLT and burger. Food used quality ingredients and was delicious. They were also making pesto from scratch while we were leaving.

Decided to take one of my best friends to St. Johnsbury for his birthday weekend-he showed me the town online and told me about Dog Mountain, so, of course I booked a 5 day trip to the historic VT town! Well, we both love breakfast. I always felt I could eat breakfast any time for any reason so whenever I go anywhere, my first search is “where to eat breakfast near me”. We tried another place the first day…but the second day we went to The Kitchen Counter. It was the best decision for breakfast and the first morning was all I needed to know that this little cafe would steal my pancake, egg and bacon filled heart! I ordered the eggs Benedict with tomato and spinach (I try the Eggs Benny at every breakfast place) and I was not disappointed. Coffee is self serve and free pours. If you sit on the stools at the counter, the servers and chefs are right in front of you serving and making your food while conversation fills the room. The busier it seems, the better this well-oiled machine runs. I decided I would return for the remainder of our trip.

The second day, I couldn’t decide if I wanted blueberry pancakes or the biscuits & gravy with eggs, so I got both and our hostess was full of smiles and a bubbly personality. I haven’t tasted a more satisfying sausage gravy than when I made it myself at home with my grandmothers recipe. It turns out Crystal, the chef, makes this homemade sausage gravy in-house and special for Sundays…I am SOOOO glad I got the opportunity to experience it! I would give The Kitchen Counter Cafe a 10 out of 5 if I could and I encourage you to walk in with a hungry belly because you are bound to be satisfied! They do have vegan and gluten free options.

My mother and I get lunch here when I am in town. It’s a nice place with vegetarian and gluten free options! I usually go with the black bean burger or the egg sandwich on gf bun.

A hidden gem. A cute little place serving fresh food in a simple setting. The artwork on the walls was a special draw.

Quaint little diner. It’s a walk up and order at the counter sort of establishment. The art on the walls was eclectic and interesting, and the Eggs Benedict was phenomenal! And the staff were friendly and welcoming.

It was 11am and we were craving breakfast when we passed through St Johnsbury on a Sunday. Now that Miss Lyndonville Diner has sadly departed, its time to find new breakfast places for that last meal of a weekend trip. My two companions both got the breakfast burrito that they enjoyed while I opted for an omelet with cinnamon toast. The bread was thick with a fine pat of butter on top – just the way I like it! The omelet was delicious! I ordered a coffee as well and was happy that I could sit down with a mug rather than a disposable cup. Overall it hit the spot! Definitely recommend!
