Kitano Shokudo is a true gem in Montreal. The food is authentically Japanese, beautifully executed, and paired with a fun, lively vibe. Sitting at the bar made the experience even better. The menu strikes a great balance between excellent sushi and Japanese dishes. The duck was outstanding, the fried chicken and Brussels sprouts were addictive, and the saki was great. An all around great night with great food and energy. Can’t wait to go back.

We enjoyed everything we ordered— Brussels sprouts, Potato salad, Sashimi, Karaage, Uni Carbonara, Duck Mazemen. We also got beer and wine. We paid around $850 (tip included) which was a bit pricey but I’d say it’s worth it, and don’t order too much like we did lol. Id definitely recommend the uni carbonara, however, the portion was a bit small (so if you like uni, don’t share and eat it for yourself). The sashimi platter was so good and very fresh! And as always, the brussels sprouts are to die for, we had to order it 4x for the whole table.

We were a group of 7 with babies and we luckily had a table available. I’d suggest booking a reservation because the restaurant is not that big with limited places. They allowed kids inside but we didn’t get any high-chairs or boosters, which wasn’t really a problem since our babies can seat up by themselves.

Highly recommend for a date night, would definitely come back! The service was amazing as always! ☺️

Food was good, but when I come to a restaurant like this where the food is at a certain price point I expect a level of service too, this was mid at best. We came to celebrate a birthday and nothing was done to try and make it special. Had to ask multiple times for almost anything.

I made sure this spot was on our list for the trip, and we’re so glad we went. We got to try their maguro futomaki, fresh, rich, perfectly seasoned, with tuna that melts in your mouth. The ramen was flavourful with a refreshing hint of yuzu. The karaage was golden and crisp on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, just perfect. Service was friendly and attentive.

We had a wonderful experience and will definitely return the next time we visit!

Kitano Shokudo is an incredible restaurant with a a warm and minimalist atmosphere, clean wood, soft lighting, and the faint sound of sizzling food from the open kitchen. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive which makes the experience feel personal.

The food truly sets Kitano Shokudo apart. Every dish feels like a small act of care. The miso soup is perfectly balanced, the sashimi melts in your mouth, and the duck noodles are perfection. The presentation is so thoughtful it feels almost too beautiful to eat. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and prepared with care.

Nothing really special with their overpriced ramen. Broth was so mid and tasted like water with just MSG. There were only 2 people working at that time (1 as cook and 1 as host) so service and food was mid as hell.

One of the best places to get Japanese food in Montreal. The seafood is incredibly fresh and tasty. All the dishes are prepared with extreme care and seasoned to perfection. They also have a wonderful sake selection and good Japanese beer too.

The best and the most authentic Japanese cuisine in Montreal. Fresh ingredients, creative and delicious dishes, Chef Hiroshi truly never disappoints! Thoughtful, welcoming, and warm service every time we’re there. Definitely a must visit whenever I’m in town.

came for random lunch, was pleasantly surprised by how GOOD everything was!! nice vibes too and great service

what we got:
duck leg confit mazemen $32
mushroom mazemen $24
chirashi bowl $38
kani hotate ikura don $46

so yeah everything was rly good. if i had to pick i would say chirashi bowl and mushroom mazemen were my top. the crab/scallop don was good too if you rly want crab but the chirashi bowl is less $$ with more variety and the tuna!! the rice is perfectly seasoned and w the wasabi and ikura w ur sashimi ugh perfect bite. the duck mazemen was okkk for me, but the mushroom mazemen just stood out way more, i feel like it had much more flavour and depth

overall super nice experience would def recommend
