Great little hidden treasure, highly recommend if passing through! Cozy setup with breakfast and lunch menu, it’s hard to put into words how great everything tasted. Everything tasted fresh and was cooked to order with great portion sizes. If you’re thinking about dessert go for it, the homemade peach ice cream is delicious and the cinnamon rolls actually melt in your mouth.

If you’re rollin’ down the road and don’t stop at Kit Carson Cafe, well partner… that’s on you. This place is the real deal. The good ol’ burgers are thick, juicy, and honest — no fancy nonsense, just the kind that drips down your hands and makes you grin like you struck oil.

Come mornin’, you better get the biscuits and gravy. That gravy’s rich, peppered just right, and poured like they mean it. Stick-to-your-ribs comfort food that’ll fuel you clear across the county line.
And now here’s the wild part — brick oven pizza. In a cafe like this. And it SLAPS. Perfect crust, killer toppings, and baked just right. Didn’t see that comin’, did ya?

What really sets this place apart though is the folks. Marion and Jake were amazing — friendly as a front-porch conversation and treated us like family from the jump. That kind of hospitality ain’t something you fake.

Bottom line: Kit Carson Cafe is the kind of spot you remember, talk about, and plan your route around next time. Five stars, no hesitation. If this ain’t a road-trip legend, I don’t know what is.

We travel a lot and stopped by on the way to Texas. It was wonderful day to have pizza made from scratch and so tasty. Thank you for your friendly service and light spiritual filings. We loved to read history of restaurant owners and it was amazing to see pictures with all kinds of equipments that served in different period of time.

Do yourself a favor and make a stop here. Excellent food, and service. It feels new and clean while maintaining a down home, family atmosphere. Our large group of kids and adults tried a variety of things and it was all excellent. Great job, Kit Carson Cafe!

My husband and I had the most incredible dining experience at this restaurant! Driving from South Dakota on our way to South Texas we came across Kit Carson Cafe. The food was absolutely delicious and made to perfection. My husband ordered the 12″ brick oven pizza pie and I had the Good Ol’ Hamburger with steak fries. Our server was super pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. Just an amazing spot if you’re on the road and need to stop by for some fresh delicious food!!!

Stopped in for lunch while waiting for ev charger (2 min walk).

Restaurant has good selection of menu items. Standard stuff: burgers, pizza etc. I had BLT and seasoned fries. Excellent

The only negative was we arrived too late to get a cinnamon roll.

We stumbled upon Kit Carson Cafe during our road trip from Denver, Colorado to Dallas, Texas all thanks to a Tesla Supercharger stop in this tiny town. What a delightful surprise!
This cozy roadside café serves up some seriously good food. We tried their brick oven pizza and it was fantastic fresh ingredients, perfect crust, and loaded with flavor.
The vibe is charmingly rustic with small-town hospitality. Loved the vintage tractor outside and the quirky signage that says: “Till • Plant • Harvest • Eat • Sleep • Repeat.”
If you’re passing through Kit Carson, CO especially in an EV make sure to stop by. Great food, clean restrooms, and friendly faces in the most unexpected place. One of the happiest finds on our trip!

The dining area has kind of a cafeteria feel, so don’t expect ambiance.
The food however, was amazing!! It has been a really long time since I’ve tasted a burger that tastes like a burger is supposed to!
They must get their beef from one of the local fresh farms.
I’m telling you it was the best burger I’ve had in 30 years!
The lady working the register took my order and was so kind.
I was just passing through on a road trip, very convenient and quick service.
