Was looking for somewhere new for dinner in Vancouver and realized a new 3 course dining spot had popped up so we had to go! This is a very cozy bright spot with great food and great service.

I went with my husband so we were able to try a bunch of things, including: oysters, gravlax, beef tenderloin, pan fried duck breast, lemon creme brulee, and their apple galette.

Everything was amazing but the gravlax, tenderloin, and galette were definitely the highlights! The sauce on the tenderloin was incredible, I wish there was a bit more potato to really soak up more of the sauce and be a bit more filling. The lemon creme brulee is a bit on the tarter side, my husband enjoyed it but I gravitated more towards the galette.

Lastly, they have a good beer and wine menu but note that they do have a bar! They were able to make my husband an espresso martini which he enjoyed.

Kismet Restaurant absolutely saved our Valentine’s Day—and then proceeded to exceed every expectation we had.

After another restaurant overbooked and left us scrambling, Kismet graciously accommodated a late reservation and turned what could have been a disappointment into an unforgettable evening. From the moment we walked in, the entire staff set a warm, vibrant tone that carried through the whole night. The space itself is beautiful—modern fine dining with an inviting warmth that feels elevated yet comfortable, never stuffy.

Every plate, from appetizers through dessert, was expertly prepared and thoughtfully plated. Portions were just right, ingredients were clearly high quality, and the execution was spot on across the board. The U10 scallops were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The tenderloin steak was tender, rich, and cooked with precision. The crab cake was incredible—easily one of the best we’ve had—and dessert was truly outstanding, the kind you talk about long after the table is cleared.

To cap off the night, we asked the bartender if they could make an off-menu Nirvana bourbon cocktail. Not only did they say yes—they delivered the best version we’ve ever had, perfectly balanced and expertly crafted.

Service was exceptional throughout. Our waiter, Kevin, was polished, professional, and genuinely attentive. Lacy, the manager, was warm and welcoming, clearly running a tight ship with care and pride. The bartender was fantastic, and the rest of the staff made the entire experience feel seamless and special.

Kismet didn’t just rescue our Valentine’s Day—they made it memorable. Exceptional food, outstanding cocktails, beautiful ambiance, and a team that truly understands hospitality. We’ll absolutely be back.

While visiting our best friends, we decided to try this restaurant on their recommendation — and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences of our trip.

From the street, the place looks quite modest and easy to miss, but once inside we discovered a true hidden gem.

We arrived very hungry, and every dish completely exceeded our expectations. Everything was incredibly delicious, and what impressed us just as much was the quality of the ingredients — fresh, natural, and clearly prepared with great care.

The butternut squash soup was outstanding — rich, smooth, and full of flavor. The tenderloin steak was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender.

You can truly feel the passion and creativity behind the food. It felt like real culinary artistry.

A big thank you to the chefs and the owner for creating such a memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town.

Bravo!

Kismet feels like the kind of restaurant that already knows exactly who it is.

The menu is tight and confident -classic preparations, seasonal ingredients, and nothing that feels fussy for the sake of being impressive. It’s the kind of place where restraint is the flex.

I started with the crab cakes, which were exactly what you hope for and rarely get: almost entirely crab, delicately bound, and thoughtfully seasoned. No filler, no gimmicks – just clean flavor and a crisp exterior that let the quality of the crab do the work. The accompanying sauce was subtle enough to support rather than overwhelm.

For the entrée, I ordered the salmon, perfectly seared with a tender interior that flaked effortlessly. The dish felt balanced and intentional, with the richness of the fish offset by accompaniments that didn’t compete for attention. It’s the kind of plate that makes you slow down and actually taste your food.

Dessert was the crème brûlée, and it delivered exactly what it should: a clean crack through the caramelized top, silky lemony custard underneath, and just enough sweetness to feel indulgent without tipping into heavy. A classic done right – and a strong note to end on.

Overall, Kismet strikes a rare balance between elegance and approachability. Nothing felt overwrought, and everything felt deliberate. If this is what they’re opening with, it’s a very promising start – and absolutely worth a visit for anyone who appreciates well-executed, quietly confident food.

Came here for Valentine’s. It was a nice fine dinning experience and the majority of the food was tasty (shout out to the dungeoness crab cakes) but not mind-blowing like we were led to expect. The waiters seemed a bit overwhelmed with the business of the holiday and we ended up being handed someone else’s check at one point or being forgotten in the hustle and bustle a couple times. It felt a little bit like we were packed into the small space like sardines which was my least favorite part of the experience. I didn’t think it was quite worth the amount of money we spent there but it was overall a good time.

Kismet is .. the best fine dining in the PNW. Chef Gallanter and team are amazing. The food is incredible. Chef prepares salmon like I’ve never had, it is truly the best. Crab cakes are signature, with the sauce Gribiche. I would have these every night if I could. The locally-sourced gelato is superb. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a true level above anything else around.

Stellar experience at Kismet! The service was outstanding. Great to see such happy faces and all the positive energy. Food came out quick, and we were checked on throughout the night.

The crab cakes are spectacular. The Gravlax of Steelhead was an absolute work of art on both the eyes and palette. Sensational appetizer. The generous layer of pickled onions added so much character to the dish and mingled extremely well with the steelhead.

My wife had the tenderloin of beef “Rossini” which was cooked to absolute perfection and had a sauce that was head shakingly good. I ordered the wood oven roasted pork loin which was divine. Just an explosion of smokey flavors with every bite. It gave me nostalgia for something I couldn’t quite put my finger on. The potatoes and carrots served on the side were above and beyond as well.

Let me just say we will be talking about the desserts for weeks to come. The lemon Madagascar vanilla crème brûlée was one of the best desserts we’ve ever tried. That said, their homemade gelato (coffee, chocolate, and raspberry) was a close to Italy as you can get. The kind of gelato you’d eat in heaven.

This was a stellar experience and we simply cannot wait to come back.

This recently opened restaurant offers fine dining in a comfortable welcoming and understated setting. It is a prix fixe menu, featuring wonderful fresh locally sourced foods prepared in the french style. I enjoyed crabcakes, beef tenderloin with bearnaise and a heavenly crème brûlée to finish. There are several seafood choices to consider as well as salmon and roast pork tenderloin. The bar is fully stocked and their cocktails are as good as you can get anywhere. My Manhattan was outstandingly good! Finally there is a carefully developed wine cellar and an expert sommelier to provide excellent wine pairing. I can’t wait to go again. All 4 of us were equally delighted by the food and service. What a great addition to Vancouver’s dining scene.
