A hidden gem! I never like dessert but as you can see from the photos – I very much enjoyed the honey ice cream. Everything was so good! I had the assorted oshi which was incredible. Loads of great wines to pair. And such lovely, calm staff who pay just the right attention to you. I recommend sitting at the sushi bar so you can watch the chefs work. Highly recommend!!

I keep falling in love with Commercial Drive again and again.

In the heart of The Drive is a 30 seat restaurant serving a modern twist on Japanese classics. Every dish is artfully plated…which if you know, it’s a foodie photographer’s heaven.

The GINDARA MISOZUKE will live rent free in my head for days to come. Other fan favs would definitely be the seasonal tempura and Oshi –

other than they let us wait for 40mins plus for the food and when we finished everything in 30mins, they are constantly suggested us to leave because of another reservation. The food is nice especially the mosiac box and oshi. Karage is good too! Great presentation but somehow overpriced

Amazing Japanese cuisine! Each item is prepared with attention to detail, and the server explains the intricacies for each food served.
Great ambiance and service. Food was all excellent, well presented, and can’t emphasize the ingenuity and craftsmanship that goes in. Highly recommend the Smoked Tai Kama, Wagyu Broth Udon, and can’t go wrong with their fresh sashimi from Japan and Oshizushi!

I came here as an invite with some work colleagues, and an uncle. Our experience here was the bomb.

Our most memorable dish was the smoked aburi in the glass. I could eat those all day, mind you it’s pricey. The caterpillar roll was very cute in presentation and delicious as well. All the seafood was at high quality and very very fresh. Parking is very easy everywhere too.

As for our services, very attentive. I love how they take their time to explain each and every dish.

The decor is updated and it’s cozy. I had a great time here and I would definitely come back again. Prices are on the high side, but you definitely have to try this place at least once. I’m addicted.

Delicious food and beautiful presentation. It is a great place to go on a solo date or date night. Good ambiance, delicious food, delicious wine, fresh, local… 5 stars! They infuse their own honey with foraged fruit and flowers and use that to make their delicious sorbet and ice cream. It is definitely pricey so go when you are celebrating or need to treat yourself after a hard day! 100% worth it for a once in the while delicious meal.
Good service and lovely experience at the bar.

Ordered the spicy karaage, dynamite roll, and smoked oshi. Chef brought me pickled fruit between courses and sorbet before leaving, on the house. Everything was plated with expertise. The pickled fruit was especially adorable. Definitely reminiscent of the places I’ve visited in Japan.

I had such an amazing experience here! Every dish was like a work of art, both in presentation and taste.
Chirashi Donburi: Absolutely delicious and beautifully presented with a unique 20-grid design. Each section had premium ingredients like bluefin tuna, wagyu beef, salmon, and even caviar. The sushi rice was perfectly seasoned with shiso, sesame, ginger, and pickled radish—an explosion of ocean flavors in every bite.
Smoked Oshi: Served under a glass dome, releasing an incredible cherrywood smoke aroma as it’s unveiled. The smoked salmon was tender and full of flavor—pure happiness in every mouthful!

Three kinds of sashimi – six pieces in total for two people – cost $39.
This was probably the most expensive sashimi I’ve ever had, but also the most disappointing. The ingredients weren’t even high-end, so it just felt overpriced.

And then there was a salad for $15.
It seemed like they put a lot of effort into making the food look nice, but they didn’t really think about the basics — the quality and the portion size.
