Kirk’s, It’s Where People Meet To Eat!

I stopped here for lunch about a week ago, the place is definitely a truck stop greasy spoon type diner. The outside is unimpressed and there was broken glass from bottles right in front of the door. The menu was large and had lots of options. The onion rings looked great when they came out, but tasted like they had been cooked a few days ago and reheated in a microwave, quite disappointing. The only waitress was also running the register so service was a tad slow, but I couldn’t blame her. The food came out quickly and was not bad, but not impressive either. I ordered a burger with a fried egg on it and hash browns. The egg ordered over easy was so raw that it shot yolk all over my jacket when I tried to bite the burger. It said it came with melted cheese, but it certainly was more like a canned premade cheese like yellow liquid. I don’t know if I would eat here again, I won’t avoid it, but also won’t choose it first.

I had breakfast at this diner today and was very disappointed. The service felt clearly unwelcoming and unfriendly. The coffee was cold and refills took a long time.
The food was also disappointing; the omelette was dry.
Overall, it was not a pleasant experience. This kind of attitude toward guests is not acceptable.

Women at the counter were nice. Burger was delicious, but these were 100% the worst onion rings Ive ever had. They were old, unseasoned, and I don’t understand the choice of breading. No salt or seasoning whatsoever on anything. Breaded mushrooms were alright. No napkins and forgot several parts of our order (drink and extra sauce)

I’d give zero stars if I could. When I pay 17.00 for a chicken fried steak, I expect a handbattered chicken fry. Not a frozen one. Mash potatoes had something in it and was brown on edges. Green beans bland with no seasoning. Pissed I just waisted 17.00 on trash. I ate as much as I could bare. Leaving hungry.

The corned beef and cabbage was amazing and the service was great as well.
I had to edit my review. My wife and I returned there and the food was terrible. I got a Chicken Fried Steak sandwich. It was dry and had no flavor at all. My wife’s food was lukewarm and plain.
The people were friendly enough and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Kirk’s has failed me nothing like frozen meet and sides I did not order not sure what’s going but the prim rib is usually on point but not today and when it was reheated it ended up being well done and tough to choke down

I came here via a recommendation I seen on an app. The food and service was amazing and you get tons of food for the price. I came for dinner and got the roast beef, see photo. It was almost more than I could eat. Came back for breakfast and got the fried steak, see photo. And again left feeling stuffed. Both meals were under $18 after tax! Not going to find better food for better price anywhere!

So Lexington doesn’t have much to offer when it comes to comfort food restaurants. It has 1 and think God it is a good one. Ate there twice and was not let down. First time I had Chicken fried steak and it was hand bread, large portion, and very tasty. Second night was some of the best fried chicken. The menu warns you it is a 12 minute wait but worth every minute. Wait, staff is a mix of professional ladies with a few young girls. The ladies keep them on point. In conclusion, I’m glad for Lexington that they have this gem.

Service may be nothing special, but the chicken wings were amazing. Out of dozens of restaurants across the country, this hidden gem creates the best wings. I’d highly recommend combining these two sauces by asking for one in a cup: Kirk’s Gold and Buffalo/Classic. This combo creates a mix of honey mustard and buffalo, an amazing combo. The picture is just Kirk’s Gold. You gotta try this place out.

The salad bar is very basic with the pale bagged lettuce and a few basics. Nothing special and leaves a lot to be desired. Ruben sandwich was sweet like they added sugar or something, not to good. I’ll probably come back and give it a second try, the staff are really friendly and nice, maybe breakfast will be better than the dinner was. Other dinners on the menu looked good but we shall see after I try a few
