We stopped here while checking out state parks and sandstone falls. Trying to find all those almost heaven swings!
I liked the salad bar and beautiful view. My husband liked his burger but I didn’t care for the grilled chicken and baked potato.
Come here and support a local business. Grab a hamburger and some fries and finish with an ice cream cone. Enjoy the view on the back porch overlooking the beautiful water.

Great food but the only downside was the outdoor seating—there were spiderwebs on the railings and under the tables and chairs. Would love to see the patio area cleaned up. I can only imagine the last time the outdoor seating was cleaned. Has the owner seen this? Does the owner of this place ever look? Wouldn’t be difficult at all to hire someone to pressure wash all the crap out. I mean come on who enjoys eating at such a beautiful waterfront table with spiders all underneath?

Excellent meal on and excellent deck over the river! The staff was very friendly and accommodating which you don’t get alot from younger service staff. They were all super. The fact that dogs were allowed on the deck made it GREAT!!! I had possibly the best Taco Salad I have ever eaten!

Our family recently visited Kirk’s Family Restaurant after a beautiful day at Sandstone Falls, and it turned out to be the perfect ending to an already wonderful outing. We chose to skip the typical tourist chains and found ourselves in a warm, welcoming haven with incredible views of the New River.
The atmosphere was inviting, the kind of place where you feel like part of the family the moment you walk in. Bruce and everyone who was working this evening went above and beyond to make us feel at home — their hospitality was truly unmatched.
The food? Absolutely phenomenal. My son ordered the pork chops, and we all agreed they were the best we’ve ever tasted. Our family of six usually has at least one picky eater, but this time, every plate was cleaned, and every smile was genuine.
If you’re in the area and craving a memorable dining experience — one filled with incredible food, unbeatable views, and heartfelt hospitality — Kirk’s Family Restaurant is a must-visit. We’ll be back for sure!

Beautiful location by the river. I enjoyed the bacon cheeseburger I got. Would love to go there again and try more of their menu, especially the fish. Cozy dining atmosphere inside and plenty of outside seating if you want to eat while looking out upon the Bluestone River. Amazing scenery whether you eat inside or out on the balcony. The location is convenient too since it’s right by the road going into Hinton.

Think they might need to rethink how you order here. 1130 on a Sunday, there was a huge line. You order at the counter, then they bring you your food. They only had 1 person taking orders, so it was taking forever. Especially they don’t have anything listed, for example, they have a K-burger, Big Ugly burger, think it was called a Hillbilly sub, but not what they were. Can get hotdog, but no listing of toppings. Naturally, when people went up, they would ask, “Whats the Big Ugly? What’s on the sub?… What do you want on your hotdog, don’t you know? What can I add? It just took too long. Then, 1/2 of the restaurant, no one would sit because it was full of people standing around in line. After the ordering ordeal, it was much better. It was busy, so it took a little while to get our food, maybe like 15 minutes, a 10 party ordered right before me. Looks like a 1960s diner inside. Outside, they have a patio with an amazing view of the river. Can see a bridge. Watch people floating or fishing. Real nice breeze. Do allow dogs on the porch. People don’t bus their tables. They do have a guy that does, and he was working hard, but you can see some messy tables beforehand. Brought our food out to us. We really enjoyed it all. My hot dogs all the way, 1 with coleslaw, 1 without were tasty. My son said his fried chicken sandwich was juicy and hot. My daughter got a potato that was nice and soft. Onion rings were good, but $4.99 for the little bit we got was a bit pricey. We would come back, maybe try to hit a slower day. The food was good.

We stopped at Kirk’s twice on our trip to New River Gorge National Park. The food is outstanding and the staff is so warm and friendly. Great place! We were also able to bring our dog on the patio!

We absolutely love this place!
I highly suggest you folks come check it out when you are visiting the Hinton area.
Go ahead and do yourself a favor, skip dairy Queen and the other restaurants.
THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE!
If you’ll take a look at the pictures that I provided and the videos, you will see that the dining area is a patio extended over the New River.
Amazing hamburgers and other food can be enjoyed while sitting over the river taking in the views of the area.
The Bluestone dam is clearly visible from here along with Belle point Park and put in.
Kind and courteous staff, the owner will make rounds and visit guests. Good conversation is had with him, and he is a great person. Let me reiterate that I absolutely love this place. My I highly suggest the crinkle cut fries and the big ugly burger.
They even have fried liver and onions if that is your forte. With such a wide range of menu items, you literally can’t go wrong.
Although it is tempting to do, you cannot feed the ducks. I never understood why until I researched it. Human food will raise the acidity to unhealthy levels in their bodies, which will make their excrement even worse pollution to the river. Who knew??
Remember to tip your waitresses.

Sitting on the river was really nice! I had a burger and onion rings, pretty good. My husband had the pulled pork and that made him really nauseous. So do not eat the pork. I was totally fine, and we shared the loaded tots and onion rings, so the only thing it could’ve been was the pork BBQ.

6-22-2021 – I ordered a bacon burger with fries and a Philly steak with fries. The fries were a little old but still ok. The hamburger was good as taste-wise but as quality it was a very thin small burger, refer to photo. The Philly steak was didn’t have much taste. It didn’t have any sauce. Did not like it what so ever. It was dry. As of the service once we sat down and received the food there was no waitress or anyone to come back to check on us for anyting. I thought that was very poor.
