I’ve been here countless times as a student, and as a huge fan of Japanese food, I can confidently say their hand rolls, sushi, sashimi, and desserts are among the best you can find at an all-you-can-eat place in Canada. The prices are reasonable, and there’s usually a line during dinner hours. Definitely recommend going for dinner — tons of options and almost everything is great.

Wow wow wow! What a hidden gem. This is honestly the best sushi I’ve ever had, no exaggeration. Since discovering this place, I’ve already been back multiple times. It’s honestly hard to believe you can get this level of quality at an AYCE. The food here could easily pass for a proper à la carte restaurant.

We’ve tried almost everything on the menu by now. All the seafood dishes are incredible, super fresh, flavourful, and consistently good. We did try the grilled beef once, and while it was tasty, it was a bit chewy. Not really their specialty, so I’d stick to the seafood, which they clearly master.

The staff are friendly, polite, and professional. Ordering can feel a little confusing the first time, but don’t hesitate to ask, they’ll walk you through it. Basically, you look through the menu, find what you want on the paper order sheet, and mark it down.

One cool thing about this place is the back wall filled with awards and recognitions from over the years, it feels like a little piece of their history. Even the hallway to the washrooms looks like a mini museum, and the restroom doors are decorated to match the restaurant’s theme. You can tell they really care about details.

Must-try items? Definitely the shrimp tempura, we always order a ton of them. My suggestion for first-timers is to try a bit of everything on your first visit, because everything is high quality, and it just comes down to personal taste.

And whatever you do, don’t skip the fried chocolate dessert. It’s absolutely out of this world.

Stylish and delicious Japanese food. Super attentive personnel. Quick service. Affordable all-you-can-eat. The servings are small, but in this case it’s a good thing, as you can try a variety of dishes.
A really good refillable tea.
Lovely place with authentic vibes.

Everything is cooked fresh and served straight to the table. Unlike most AYCE restaurants, nothing tastes like it’s been sitting under a heat lamp—You can genuinely taste the freshness in every dish!

Everything here is absolutely delicious. We often come here to celebrate life milestones or just as a treat to ourselves. We leave with full bellies and just so satisfied. The staff is so friendly and attentive and you always feel welcome. Their take out is also just as delicious.

Excellent all you can eat restaurant! They have a lot of options to choose from and all of the dishes are tasty. My favourite dishes were the Salamon Tataki, Takoyaki, Kaarage, Korean Spicy Beef and Ebimayo (but everything was good). The staff are very accommodating and patient if you have any questions. The area itself is a bit small so I would recommend booking reservations in advance. For dessert, the Black Sesame Pudding is a must try!

Kinkaku Izakaya delivers an outstanding dining experience that keeps you wanting to come back. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, modern, and inviting, making it a perfect place for a casual meal or a special night out. The restaurant is clean, well organized, and thoughtfully designed, creating a comfortable and enjoyable setting.
The food quality is excellent and very consistent. Every dish is prepared with care, using fresh ingredients and great attention to detail. The menu offers a wide variety of Japanese dishes, from sushi and sashimi to hot plates and grilled items, so there is something for everyone. Presentation is beautiful, and flavors are well balanced, making each dish enjoyable.
Service is another strong point at Kinkaku Izakaya. The staff are friendly, attentive, and professional, always checking in and making sure guests are comfortable. Orders are delivered promptly, and everything runs smoothly even during busy hours.
Overall, Kinkaku Izakaya stands out for its high-quality food, excellent service, and welcoming atmosphere. It’s a great spot for dining with friends, family, or celebrating special occasions. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys Japanese cuisine and a great dining experience.

I can’t believe they were open during a snowstorm on the absolute coldest day of the year. They don’t take reservations for small groups so we put our names on the list and we waited in the car. They called us as soon as the table was ready sooner than expected. The food was seriously amazing. So much verity for my friend who isn’t big on sushi. I love sushi and was super impressed. The people serving were very fast. It’s for sure now our favourite restaurant. See you soon.

Kinkaku is and has been out go to anniversary spot. We love the food and drinks here. The service is great, informative and attentive. The decor and vibe are great, i love coming in and looking at the interior design. The atmosphere though, its so loud, and its so hard to sit at the smaller tables for two with people brushing by you constantly. The washrooms, can really get disgusting quick but i dont fault the restaurant, the patrons should keep themselves in check. There was an occasion once where two friends from our table slipped and wiped out going out to the washroom, seems the floors are better and lighting has been added!

I recently visited Kinkaku Izakaya and had a mixed experience. The food is super delicious, but some dishes are quite small, including the skewers. Since it’s an all you can eat restaurant and it was my first time there, they recommended starting with one or two plates and a small number of items to try. Drinks aren’t included in the offer, so you have to pay extra for those. Also, you can’t stay longer than two hours, as they’ll ask you to leave.
Be aware that you have to finish all the food you order, or you’ll be charged extra for any leftovers. There are two dining periods, with dinner hours being more expensive than lunch hours. While the idea of all you can eat is appealing, I didn’t feel like I saved money. They also put a lot of sugar in the food, which isn’t typical for some dishes I usually enjoy without sweet sauce. The pineapple juice I ordered was way too sweet to finish. Despite these issues, the ambiance is nice and clean, the service is fast, and the sushi is delicious. If you’re coming for the food, you’ll enjoy it, but be aware of the small portions, extra costs, and the need to finish everything you order.
