This is another great example of the fabulous diners in Kingston! We were greeted with a smile and seated immediately. Mia our server was exactly what you want, friendly and informative of the menu. Her smile could light up a room! The food was prepared timely and it was absolutely delicious!!! It’s a very busy place in the afternoon but don’t let that deter you, you will be taken care of!! I look forward to my next visit to NY and my next visit to KVD!!

Kings Valley Diner is a charming spot with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive, adding to the diner’s warm, vintage vibe. One of the standout features is the impressive variety of vegetarian options perfect for veggie based diners or anyone looking to try something fresh and flavorful. The food itself is delicious, clearly made with care and quality ingredients. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual meal or a cozy catch-up with friends, Kings Valley Diner delivers a satisfying experience that feels both nostalgic and nourishing. Highly recommend giving it a try!

@kings_valley_diner Kingston, NY: Everyone has the one diner they grew up with. The one they spent late hours sipping coffee and smoking cigarettes in until the morning sunrise. For me that was the Barclay Heights diner, but for my kingston friends it was Michael’s. Kings Valley wasn’t on my radar (KVD for short) but maybe that’s because it was called Texas Lunch until 2001. I was already mostly done with my late night cheese fries and gravy faze by the time it changed names. Some people swear by KVD, but I never had a reason to change my spot. I found myself here over Christmas break and was pleasantly surprised. Pierogis with bacon (I’d say lardons) and fried brussels with honey sirachi and chipotle mayo were passed around the table. Steak salad looked spectacular and my burger was exactly as expected. Everything was delicious. We had a much better experience than the last time I was at EverReady. They were totally packed. I would definitely recommend. #kingston #diner #kvd #kingsvalleydiner #burger #pierogi #brussels #steak #hveats #igeats #hvfoodies #ulster #hudsonvalley #dinerfood #eater #nyeats #ulstereateriesunfiltered

Onion soup was salty, baked potato was questionable, my wife vomited in the bathroom. The lamb had lots of fat and was very chewy. The salad and diet Pepsi with lemon was good. Not a recommended eating establishment.

Can’t believe it took me years to try this place. It’s a gem. Best diner in the area. Very good food with generous portions. Comfortable spacious seating. Excellent friendly service.

Cheese balls were undoubtedly abhorrent. I got 7 orders of cheese balls and every consecutive bite was increasingly putrid. By the time I got to my 23rd cheese ball I was on the verge of taking off my flip flop and throwing it at my waiter. I’ll give them a 35/39.

Besides the balls, the stairs were steep, the bathroom was too clean, the server was attentive, I was too full, didn’t have my favorite lollipop flavor, my server rejected me after asking for his phone #, my legs are sore from skiing, my hotel toilet flooded, and my orange juice tasted too much like orange juice.

Overall 317/326 very good.

Came to visit family. We’re from California. One stop shop if no one can decide what they want to eat. Menu has a lot of variety and the prices are very reasonable. Pay as little or as much as you like and the food is served in good portions. Staff is also friendly. Everything we ordered was delicious.

The kitchen DS french toast sticks were okay, the pancakes were okay (vanilla flavor but dry) but the home fries so undercooked – even though we asked for well done. The crab cake benedict was terrible. I couldn’t muster more than two bites. Then no coffee top off or refill. No water refills. And expensive. We went to a diner a few days ago, half an hour away, similar (typical diner menu) and half the price. The value is not these for the food quality and lack of service.
