This is a community restaurant that is is being micro managed by a cranky dis-respectful owner. The service is VERY SLOW. I was 2nd in line and it took the server 20 minutes to fulfill my order. I wanted two orders of turkey wings with collards and candied yams. I was told that they were out of yams so I ordered potato salad. But before my order was prepared and bagged she (the owner) came out of the kitchen with a fresh tray of candied yams. So, I asked the server for 2 orders of candied yams in addition to the potato salad. The owner interceded and said I could only have 1 order of yams. I declined and I should have walked out on the entire order since I had not paid for it yet. But I decided then and there I wasn’t going back there again. She’s killing the business with her dysfunctional micro-management attitude. I will never go in there again AND neither should YOU!!!

The food here is scrumptious, well seasoned and ample portions. We got the turkey wings, collard greens, mac and cheese, peach cobbler and extra sides of collards and potato salad. You receive cornbread with your meal. Everything was packed up nicely for us and the restaurant itself is very clean.
I realize some complained about the personality of one of the women. However, stay focused on why you’re there. A little crankiness is not a big deal… to me. Also, we never know what someone is dealing with. Honestly, my (customer care) experience was neutral for the most part. Shrugs.

I finally came here after years of hearing about this place and trying many different options from places in New Rochelle all the way to Nyack. Although the atmosphere is minimal the food is delicious and plentiful. I felt as if I was picking up plates of soul food from my church ladies with the gospel music playing which I did not mind.

I ordered three dinners we tried the fried chicken, collards, yams and one order of mac and cheese that was a mistake we should have gotten more and order of peach cobbler. As my daughter described it she felt like eating this food was like getting a hug from a grandma! None of the food is overly seasoned which my husband and I prefer but seems to be the common mistake a lot of soul food locations are making.

There is a detour near the location which makes parking a little bit of a challenge however, that will not stop me from returning.

Was in the area so I decided to check out this spot before ending back to the Friendly staff! The turkey wings are very good. I really enjoyed it. The ribs are tendar, and seasoned well. I have eaten ribs from many spots before, but I must say the ribs here are better than most. I was even given one extra rib for good luck. The sides of collard greens, and macoroni, and cheese were good as well. You get a piece of corn bread with every meal. The corn bread is nice, and moist. The sweet potatoe pie was okay; the crust was a little hard though. I was told they have different meats, different days of the week, so check on what they are serving that day before you go.

Stopped here after visiting a friend, great food, we got the fish dinner and the fried chicken dinner. Redina & her mom are so sweet. I left with my leftovers and a plant I’ll definitely be back when I visit again.

Was very excited to try this place after reading so many great reviews. I work in the area, and decided to pop in for lunch. Very disappointing. Where do I begin, first I walk in and to no surprise to me, was a line. Fine. They’re busy, people like their food. So, whatever. Only after to actually wait on line (3rd) and watch in shock as the server was super slow with serving and packaging a customers order. So, I’m thinking, maybe she’s just meticulous. Turns out, she’s just slow. Waited like a fool for an additional 14 mins for it to finally be my turn. NOTHING I had originally planned for was available (lucky me) I opt for the fish (whiting) a disappointment in itself, which they do make their fish on demand because why wouldn’t you, it’s whiting. To actually get my food and it was ONE piece of fish. My total was $17 dollars. My sides were collard greens (horrible) and white rice (bland). I won’t be back.

I placed a large order today. Very disappointed that I did not have a fresh shrimp and fish dinner. The potato salad was absolutely disgusting and we all agreed. It was very pale and vinegary and sugary. The Mac and cheese definitely needed cheese and a little TLC so I added some at home but I ended up throwing out both the Mac and cheese and the potato salad because something just wasn’t right and we thought it may make us sick. The shrimp came from the frozen isle at restaurant depot. The cornbread lacked something as well. If the fish were of better quality, it would have been perfect . The flavor was good and it was nicely fried. The ribs were good.

Nice soul food spot! Nice portions friendly and nice employees. If you like potato salad tell them to put it another container. Hot and cold doesn’t mix.

Best southern food in Westchester. We came all the way from NYC and my partner was here from Chicago and we both loved it. Nice staff and the most sweetest owner you can meet. Funny they ran out of cornbread (it is soooo good) and they turned around and made more and made sure we got it fresh and gave us more since it was not done when we made this order. It was like eating with your favorite grandmother.

The taste of the food isn’t the same. The last 2 times I had the turkey wings, they were dry and bland. Same with the Mac n cheese. The cornbread was good, though.
