Was very surprised at how good the food was at King Chef. I’m pretty sure everything is made to order, and not just sitting in a pan in the back. My food tasted very fresh, very good, very hot, and plenty of it. General Tso combo with soup is really good. If you love standard Chinese food, be prepared to be very happy with King Chef because it was much better!

I ordered egg drop soup. There is literally no flavor and hardly any egg in it at all. Worst egg drop soup I’ve ever had! Also , ordered lunch combo and the rice is hard .

Picked up from here twice within a few weeks, and both times our order was wrong. We ordered Kung Pao Shrimp and Mongolian Beef, but we received Kung Pao Chicken and Mongolian Chicken instead. It seems like no matter what protein you order, they default to chicken. It’s a shame, because the food itself is solid, but they are 0-for-2 on accuracy.

As someone mentioned, the dining room isn’t much, but don’t judge a book by its cover. I live nearby and always do takeout anyway.
The food is good and very CONSISTENT.
It seems that no matter how big or small your order, you get “10 minute” (and they’re always right).
Also, I’ve not had a crappy attitude there. Sometimes, when they are very busy, it’s more “to the point” and all business, but not crappy. Besides, I’m not there to make a friend.
The only reason that I’m not eating from there tonight? I waited too close to closing time and didn’t want to be that “last minute jerk.”
To note, their Crab Rangoon is the sweeter version. I love them, but the GF doesn’t and prefers the more traditional CR.
EDIT: Hate to do this but, recently things have changed. Two examples…
1st. One of my “go-to” orders is the sweet and sour chicken. The past three times it’s been VERY overcooked. I’m almost afraid to tell them to cook it less, fearing what I’d get then.
2nd. About the service…I’ve seen decline there too. Example: while in the middle of taking my face-to-face order, she answers the phone and actually starts to take both of our orders at the same time (going back and forth speaking). It was the “are you talking to me now?” thing. Even as a laidback “regular,” I was pretty surprised at that.

So I tried this place because of the reviews and I have mixed feelings about this place that is making me reconsider if I want to go there again. I ordered the Chicken Chow Mein, – This was very good, enjoyed it. I also ordered the hot and sour soup. I have definitely had better. The soup was very thin and watery. I could only spot a few mushroom and a couple of pieces of tofu. The rest was all soup and again it was very thinned out. The next thing we ordered was the sweet and sour chicken. This was truly disappointing. The outside texture of the chicken wasn’t golden brown as I am used to. It had an appearance that makes me feel that it was frozen and fried (looked like freezer burn) or it is batched cooked and kept warm. The outside had a “white like” freezer burn appearance. When you bite into it, the batter had separated from the chicken. It resembled crisy fried chicken versus and sweet and sour chicken. There was a gap between the batter and the chicken. So I would definitely not recommend it if this is the what it normally looks like. We did pay to upgrade the fried rice to the lo mein (it was $2.00, but that’s pretty good). It tasted ok, but there was a smell when you opened up the box of burnt food. Overall, its not the worst, but I definitely have had in my opinion what I can call fresher and better prepared food.

I have loved this place for about 17 or so years now. This is my favorite Chinese take out in middle tn. I highly recommend the s.11. Chicken and broccoli are great too. Super nice family run place. I passed at least 5 other Chinese places to get this.

I ordered chicken mei fun and spring rolls. The noodles were great (added soy sauce), and the spring rolls were just ok. Would have been better with duck sauce or something, but none was in the bag (no soy sauce either). I should have realized there were probably packets somewhere, but just assumed it would be in the bag. If you eat here and need sauce, check your bag before you leave.
