With the Fandango Buffet CLOSED, this King Buffet is the only real buffet in town here in Carson City. It’s actually not bad and with realistic expectations, you can have a good time eating here. Best time to get here is 11am, when the food is all fresh and hot. If you want the giant jumbo prawns, that;’s for dinner and starts at 3:30pm.

We ate at King Buffett on a Friday evening. The food was fresh & flavorful. There is a Mongolian grill as well as the pre-cooked dishes to choose from plus soft serve ice cream and various desserts.The variety of entrees was a bit slim for the price, $16.99 per person.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 – it does taste like a Chinese buffet and has the typical dishes so it hits the spot for any cravings. The flavorings on some were very mild and we can’t tell the chicken dishes apart in terms of taste (color and texture is different though). The chef was working hard behind sushi bar but it’s mostly just different fish on California or tempera rolls. The Mongolian grill has some vegetables that were inconsistent in cut and meat that is completely defrosted and just sitting in their juice (eek)

It was just okay. Some of the food was good, some was mediocre. They had peanuts in their dessert bar, which were hard to identify because they had a candy coating. There was no sign stating they were peanuts. I’m just lucky I figured it out ahead of time. The hostess was nice, but the other servers were unhelpful.

I was a little disappointed when I saw there was only 1 buffet in town. Boy was I surprised! This place has everything! Mongolian grill, sushi bar(with actual good sushi), clams, all the traditional Chinese buffet options and my personal favorite, walnut shrimp. I’m writing this review as I eat so I can scarf down more great food. Hopefully I can make another round 😉

We go to King Buffet all the time. For what it is, we really like it. There is a lot of variety, including sushi and Mongolian BBQ. The service is hit or miss, which is fine for a buffet. Prices are reasonable. We’ve been to the King Buffet in Reno a couple of times and didn’t like it — they don’t have sushi and the food just wasn’t as good.

If you like Chinese buffets, this one is a bit better one. At least they are bigger place. Also they serve variety of sushi. Sushi are ok and you will not get sick after eating them. The rest of menu items are pretty much standard for Chinese buffets. But the stuff that works there is extremely unpleasant. Everyone is grumpy. No one really speaks English good enough. My resolution about this place is that: if I am extremely hungry and want some sushi at a cheap price, I would go there. Otherwise never….
