I’m not entirely sure I went to the same restaurant as these other reviews but I sure did. I came here for a late lunch over the weekend and it was crowded inside; a large group of older men was seated at all of the tables and maybe one unaffiliated guest at another.
When I ordered the woman working there had a total attitude and I still ordered the veggie platter. I had to wait for a table to open, no one seemed to move or want to leave, and when the woman working there cleaned off a table another patron took the table before I could sit there? So then I asked if she could clean the table he was seated at so I could sit…again with the attitude.
The food was okay, coming from Southern California I’ve had tons of amazing Ethiopian food and had been craving it. The food was the best part of the experience and it was still just okay. It was both overly salty and not salted enough. The injera was fresh so I’ll give them that. I was really disappointed with the ambiance and overall feel because nothing was ‘kind’ about it. The other places I’d been to had been so friendly and welcoming and I guess I shouldn’t have expected that to carry over here.
Parking is super limited and it’s on a very busy street, pulling out of the lot was a chore and for this experience won’t choose again.

We ordered the Veggie Platter and could not be happier! The atmosphere, the music, the owners, every bit of this place was incredible. You can tell there’s a lot of love and passion going into the food because it is one of the most incredible dishes I’ve tried.

Come for the food, which is outstanding. The vegetable platter in particular is something special, but you can’t go wrong with any selection as long as you can tolerate the appropriate spice level chosen.
Inside seating is limited, there are no options for groups larger than two or three people. Everything is made from scratch, to order, so expect at least a twenty or thirty minutes wait. This is not fast food, but quality, made with care and devotion.

I have been coming here for over a year now and they never disappoint. The veggie combo has everything that I could wish for, and their meat dishes are quite good as well. I have been to quite a few Ethiopian restaurants, and in my opinion Kind Bean is the best one in the Sac area. Definitely recommend.

Such good food! They were helpful about allergies. They have oatmilk to make vegan coffee drinks! It’s low key inside but with nice little tables to sit and have a conversation.

I just happened to Google this place and go here on a whim. I had been cleansing & detoxing and wanted some nutrient dense foods without all the preservatives and additives. The owners were very hospitable. I placed my order & was able to discuss the difference between certain food selections. The cashier was very knowledgeable about the cuisine which made me feel right at home. I ordered & customized my own veggie platter. They has this one buttery tasting chickpea side and it was dark in color and surprisingly to me, it tasted very very good, especially considering I’m not a fan of chickpeas at all. I started eating chickpeas for their nutritional value. My entire veggie plate was delicious. I took a little bit home with me. I was definitely satisfied, not stuffed but, full. Kind Bean Cafe served it’s purpose. Great Place for food. The owner asked me how everything was. Bonus!!! She made sure I had everything I needed. BONUS PLUS!!!
I highly recommend this place.

I saw all the reviews and was excited to order myself a treat for my birthday as the place I go to normally no longer delivers. I ordered right when they opened and maybe that was the issue as the food was definitely day old. The rice was all climbed together and crusty hard. Although some entrees came luke warm which is fine I can get heat it up one was ice cold with the hard cold rice. I think they forgot to heat it up. The last entree was the veggie and rice it was supposed to be full f veggie in the picture with side of rice it was rice with just pieces of veggies. Flavor was just ok. Really bummed wanted to like this place. Hopeful me teenager will eat it, so it does not go to waste. :(.

This was an online order of delivery for Doro Wot. After seeing 5 star reviews I decided to take my chances and place an order….
What a terrible decision.
They piled on what seemed like 2-3 injeras (and if you’re Ethiopian or familiar with Ethiopian culture you can imagine) in one container with, MAYBE 1/2 cup of doro wot. By the time it arrived to my residence, the injera had soaked up most of the sauce so it was fir fir (without that flavor or texture).
The flavor was completely off. I can’t figure out what it is but it doesn’t taste like doro wot. I’d try a different location if you’re craving doro wot. Perhaps one of their other dishes are better.

Called about 45 minutes before closing and asked to make sure we could still come in for dinner and the woman on the phone was very accommodating and started prepping the veggie combo which I asked for. The combo was very filling got both of us. Loved the cabbage, greens and salad best.
