Had the eggplant curry and pho. Eggplant was good, pho was amazing. The server said the pho soup is stewed for over 8 hours, and you can really taste it. Surprisingly empty given the good food at good price, so check them out!

Excellent food. I had never tasted Burmese cuisine before, so I decided to go here with my friends for lunch. Prices are moderately expensive ($$). The lady (I guess she’s the owner), helped us out with the menu, explained the ingredients and origin. Overall a very pleasant experience. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our meal here. I had the special bowl Pho- it is a regular bowl but generous portion of different beef cuts and beef balls. Lots of vegetables and herbs to add to the pho soup. Best pho in this area, so glad there is a place for pho in Bloomington. The braised goat dish is absolutely amazing, tender and flavorful and again, generous in portion. It comes with a bowl of soup and some pickled vegetables in a separate bowl that I didn’t get a picture of. enjoyed my hot coffee and Igeakuai- which is dough fritters/you tiao (I ate one of the pair up so it’s not shown in the photo), which I missed so much, they are crispy and hits the spot. The server is very polite and nice. The place is nicely decorated, clean and homely. It exceeded our expectations. We are so full after the meal and I waddled my way out of the restaurant. Come with an empty stomach!

The Curry Eggplant is delicious, a real unique dish. The sweet iced Burmese tea is also very good and rich (and different than I was expecting in a good way. It almost tasted of chocolate). I love the decorations in this place, and the staff was very friendly and service quick. They have a lot of interesting and varied vegetarian options.

The food was really good and it was pretty big portion even though I got the smaller size of Pho. The tea was very strong which with this type it should be. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and look forward to returning..

If I have to pinpoint my favorite Bloomington restaurant, it would definitely be Burma Garden. I’ve gone multiple times in the last 2 years and the food never disappoints. In addition, the quality and service is always consistent. The owners are always willing to accommodate dietary needs/preferences and offer alternatives to dishes as I am a vegetarian.

I’ve posted my most frequented dishes below: curry eggplant and ohn no khao swe. My boyfriend gets the ohn no khao swe every time and absolutely loves it. The curry eggplant melts in your mouth and goes great with the coconut rice.

This is the second time I’ve eaten Burmese food. If you think that it is just a variation of Thai cuisine, don’t make that mistake, because it is not! They have their own unique curries, soups and appetizers that are similar to Indian food and other south east Asian dishes, yet unique to the region now called Myanmar
